Governments have increasingly made cybersecurity and resiliency of information infrastructures a priority. Trustworthy Computing's (TWC) Global Security Strategy and Diplomacy (GSSD) team aims to help governments shape commercially reasonable cybersecurity policy and help Microsoft adapt to the new regulatory environment.

GSSD seeks to support its country and regionally focused engagements with the addition of an experienced cyber security and government affairs policy professional with a strong background in policy development, relationship management and a results-oriented track record. Specifically, GSSD is looking for a seasoned Security Strategist with seven plus years' experience working with government officials in understanding and managing complex strategy and policy issues related to cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, cloud security and compliance and risk management. Background and experience with software assurance, cyber supply chain security and software asset management are desired but not required. An advanced degree such as an M.A. in public policy or foreign policy, a J.D. or an M.B.A. is also required.

The Senior Security Strategist will:
Help align national and international policy and legislation which aligns with Microsoft's business practices, particularly in the E.U.;
Engage internal business groups to help them prepare for future requirements; and
Share Microsoft's expertise, knowledge and tools with the external security ecosystem and government entities to help global infrastructures become more secure.

In addition to the above, the Senior Security Strategist must possess these key skills:
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to develop strategy and policy, create, review, and comment on plans, directives, and documents related to broad set of cybersecurity topics. This includes developing company positions and messaging to support the GSSD mission.
Produce materials and deliver services including: reports, white papers, presentations, articles, and op eds.
Exceptional process management and operational skills, with the ability to identify deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.
Strong interpersonal skills are required to ensure effective collaboration at all levels with teams across Microsoft.

The position, based in Redmond, Washington, also includes working closely with Legal Corporate Affairs group to review proposed government policy, regulation, and legislation that may relate to security and other TwC issues affecting Microsoft. A key skill is the ability to create alternate language and strategies for managing government concerns. The position will require periodic international travel.
