SENIOR DIRECTOR OF RETAIL STORES TRAINING

The mission of the Microsoft Retail Stores is to profitably showcase Microsoft technology and illuminate our innovation story, by transforming the buying and ownership experience for Microsoft devices, software and services.

JOB SUMMARY:

As we expand our footprint in 2013 and beyond, we're creating a world-class Retail experience based on development and implementation of our training strategy, initiatives, and operational programs for the Microsoft Retail Stores Field organization. As a Sr. Director of Retail Stores Training you will be responsible for working with the GM, Retail Stores Operations to maximize impact with customers and field, including the content and analysis of the current and anticipated future training needs to create total learning solutions that are aligned with the company's overall strategic plans and goals. Managing a team, coaching them on execution of their roles, championing and empowering them to reach their potential in careers; and driving selected strategic projects that align with strategic vision of the Store leadership team, is part of key deliverables.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

-Participating as a core member of the Retail Stores Field Leadership team
-Identifying business scenarios that help our organization design, prioritize and implement programs/initiatives to build talent capability and an enhanced customer experience, establishing priorities tied to strategic organizational needs
-Hiring, retaining and managing training team resources to ensure they're adequately and appropriately trained with Retail Stores procedures and processes
-Identifying performance gaps and recommending suitable training solutions using a variety of forums such as live workshops, instructor led, on-line, etc
-Managing the learning management system, ensuring regulatory and legal compliance and demonstrates competence in current instructional practices and emerging technologies
-Measuring progress against goals via an effective rhythm of the business
-Managing annual budget for training programs and managing expenses within the budget
-Engage, educate, excite, and empower potential and existing customers alike with the same level of passion and commitment
-Be a part of the Microsoft Retail Stores tore team: smile, have fun, work hard, and achieve success

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

-College Degree Preferred and/or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
-8+ years demonstrated performance in similar role
-8+ years demonstrated experience with training and development strategy for a large organizational and/or functional business unit
-Excellent presentation/facilitation skills, both formal and informal with strong experience across all Microsoft products
-Planning and project management skills to create effective working partnerships across organizational lines
-Strong understanding and experience of working with customers, partners and field personnel, and ability to translate that experience into strategic insight that influences Retail Stores Training vision
-Proven impact and influence skills - ability to work broadly across disparate groups to gain agreement on direction, integrate disparate opinions into cohesive strategy/message and present/defend recommendations to the Leadership team
-A strong passion for technology and delivering world class customer service
-Thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, public facing environment
-Passion for managing and growing talent in a people manager role

This position will require approximately 20% travel within North America
