Description:

Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator

The candidate will be responsible for working and collaborating in a multi-vendor environment with the JTF-GNO/DOD/DON to help establish and maintain the SQL Server Role and its security to comply with DISA Security requirements. The candidate will utilize the Security Technical Implementation Guide to fix or verify all security settings issues found. The candidate will work with government counterparts to install and maintain the SQL Server Role at various remote sites. The candidate will have an extensive knowledge of computer hardware architecture and Windows Operating Systems in a multi-system environment to be able to install, integrate and migrate SQL applications as needed. The candidate will need to work with a wide range of applications including security and life cycle management to resolve installation issues, and provide solutions and support for operational issues. Solutions provided will be in the form of script creation, procedure design, documentation, and patches. Candidate will work with Tier III Engineers when they have a system in production and an issue arises; candidate will be expected to create a solution ASAP. The candidate will need to know how to analyze the system to find the issue (all services running, disk space available, CPU resources adequate, applications and communications to applications up and running, etc.) The candidate will be responsible for integration of SQL Server applications, upgrading SQL Server installations and solving issues that arise along the way.

Candidate may be expected to plan for purchases in productions as new applications and installations are rolled out.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (or 4 years of experience in lieu of) in related field and 7+ years related experience.

Required:

- A bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience from an accredited college or university
- 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
- Secret Clearance
- Windows XP/Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008/2008 R2.
- Strong experience migrating data and operation of SQL Server in a multi server environment
- Strong experience fixing and remediating findings related to Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG)
- Strong Experience in Scripting Powershell (including direct use of .NET classes) or VBScript (WMI, ADSI, etc.) or CMD Shell
- Strong documentation skills including Visio diagram generation
- Must be able to work under pressure and act independently
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Must have (or be able to obtain) an OS Cert and Security Cert

Preferred:

- Experience operating in an Active Directory, VMware, and McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS) environment.
- Experience in System Administration.
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills
- Self-starter with incredible responsiveness
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with Tier III engineering calls, Tier IV troubleshooting of Software/Workstations, preemptive addressing of issues desired.
- NMCI, IT-21, Navy Networks or ONE- NET experience desired
