Title: Director of Operations - Lighting

Job Description: Leading lighting distributor is seeking a Director of Operations for their San Diego headquarters.
SUMMARY: The Director of Operations is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the operations of the company. The Director will be challenged with improving the performance, productivity, operating efficiency and profitability of operations through the introduction of effective methods and strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental, and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments in the organization.
Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.
Plan the most effective use of human resources. Organize recruitment and placement of required staff. Establish organizational structures. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules and supervise staff.
Ensure proper training and cross training of personnel in shipping and receiving, estimating, purchasing, sales, marketing, HR and IT functions. Monitor and evaluate performance.
§ Manage and measure effectiveness of customer support efforts
§ Provide internal opportunities for skill upgrading and continuous learning.
§ Maintain open lines of communication and provide an inviting atmosphere for employee suggestions for improvements.
§ Ensure that company has a plan in place to handle computer, phone and power outages and an emergency plan of action including updated employee contacts
§ Liaison with ownership and top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
