Assistant Chemical Research Engineer

Yoh has a contract to hire opportunity for an Assistant Chemical Research Engineer to join our client in San Francisco, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

- Experimental work with solid catalyst evaluation systems and subsequent sample analysis using GC and Related analytical software (and scales, calipers, some grit, etc.)
- Diligent and data handling and management by solid lab notebook logging, database and maintenance and the thoughtful preparation of analytical, logically coherent spreadsheets.
- In collaboration with team members, ongoing review and improvements of experimental rigs Use your critical insights and experimental creativity to understand key premise and help adjust and continually realign our R&D program.
- Other lab related work such as taking ordering, keep lab clean and organized.

Job Qualifications:

- Lab experience. Ideally you've built an experiment before and appreciate the vagaries involved, Experience with building and maintaining hardware (Swagelok, etc.) is desirable.
- Computers: You know your way around spreadsheets and ideally know a thing or two about Matlab (or similar), SQL, and presentation software (Keynote or PPT) to help you convince the company of your findings and insights.
- Communications: You'll do this exceedingly well because you understand that your experimental efforts, results and insights are only worth as much as your ability to communicate them. That means you know how to structure an argument, label and present a pilot, give a solid presentation.
- At last a BS or BA in chemical engineering or chemistry and at least some relevant lab experience.
