Senior C++ Software Engineer
Overview
The person will focus primarily on C++ Software Development and maintenance on Windows for Elektron, IDN and Data Feed Direct Projects. The positions will involve Object Oriented Design and development with a heavy focus on software performance. These projects involve the collection and normalization of financial data for fast, Real Time data systems.
Responsibilities
Write new software, modifies existing software or integrates software in accordance with the agreed upon specifications, created in partnership with others. Creates and executes unit testing and integration testing ensuring software meets requirements. Lead the design or contribute to the design of components. May provide technical support to Operations or other development teams. Interface with the Business Analysts and Technical Team Leads to ensure the proper requirements are understood and being met Interface with QA to ensure the application performs as, or better, than expected. Aid in the preparation of status updates for projects. Actively participates in team and status meetings. Make moderate to complex modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with written specifications and industry standards. Take part in reviews of own work. Take part in reviews of the work of colleagues. Creates, reviews, and maintains all required technical documentation/manual related to assigned software to ensure supportability and reuse. Provides wider feedback into performance. Assists in identification and implementation of short-term and long-term solution options, including risk assessments. Assists with improvements to prevent problems, including problem resolution workflow. Participates in remediation solutions. Participates in project planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and provide work breakdown and estimates of work. Provides work breakdown and estimates for small software development tasks. Develops software using disciplined software development processes, adhering to team/company standards and software best practice guidelines, and corporate policies.

2-5 years professional C++ experience Degree in Computer Science or equivalent Experience of formal software development life cycle Good understanding of programming and troubleshooting techniques within a Real Time application environment Working experience in writing and debugging multithreaded applications Good communication skills, including understanding requirements, verifying expectations, and written documentation Ability to work as part of a team, completing varied work assignments and to collaborate with or assist others in their work as required. Good understanding of principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing activities involved in planning, managing and implementing projects and programs Ability to thoroughly test code, including performance testing Ability to provide realistic timelines, and meet them, is a must. A customer service focus Knowledge of communications protocols, such as TCP/IP, and experience of distributed networks an advantage
Desired Skills Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio. Understanding of financial markets, specifically Commodities and Energy market data is an advantage. Knowledge of communications protocols, such as TCP/IP, and experience of distributed networks is an advantage Knowledge of more programming languages and scripts. Knowledge of more than one Operating system, specifically VMS.
