The position will be responsible for devising a Business Intelligence and data strategy and delivery of solutions that enable analysis, reporting, enhanced data visualization, and data mining to business decision makers. Microsoft has millions of customers and loads of data - how do we use data to optimize the experience for consumers online?
They will also be responsible for building collaborative relationships with the Answer Desk business groups and global community. Key partner groups for this exploration include Answer Desk Engineering, MSIT BI Infrastructure, Business Operations, Product Management, Supportability, Marketing, and Service Delivery.
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a consumer environment that is fast moving, ambiguous, and demanding. This position will require strong leadership skills to organize a vast group of stakeholders with divergent strategies, disparate data sources and reporting, and strong program and project management skills to deliver on the big data strategies that they devise.
Expert level knowledge required envisioning, designing, planning, building and deploying solutions including the following:
Demonstrated excellence at presenting complex development topics to both executive and technical personnel.
Working knowledge of specialized BI tools and solution providers whether they be Microsoft partners or competitors
Knowledge of full application life cycle design tools and methodologies
Knowledge of the Data Warehouse Lifecycle
A deep understanding of, and ability to use and explain all aspects of, relational database design, multidimensional database design, OLTP, OLAP, KPIs, and Dashboards
Ability to use business insight to evangelize and influence business decision making
Core Responsibilities
Define Business Intelligence and data architecture strategy
Manage team of vendors delivering and supporting reporting and SharePoint solutions
Develop relationships with business partners, key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure IT investments are aligned with their goals and priorities
Collaborate with business partners to provide solutions to business challenges.
Engage the business client early and effectively building solid relationships and pushing value upstream as key business direction is being set
Identify, understand, and document business requirements with various groups within Microsoft
Facilitation of the fiscal year planning process for the engineering book of work for Answer Desk BI
Manage the delivery of business cases, scope and requirement documents, use-case documentation and test plans
Serve as liaison between the business and engineering. Be an advocate for the business, engineering and the end users
Developing and managing direct relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure the business solutions are aligned with their goals and priorities, and how process automation through IT solutions will help them reach their goals
Balance the customer's requirements with technical constraints (eg, application size, network bandwidth, hardware/software/equipment selections) to ensure that the value of the project is realized.
Clearly understand, articulate and document existing "as-is" systems & business architecture and define strategy for "to-be" architecture
Create and maintain a cohesive, coordinated plan to deliver solutions that meet the stakeholders priorities within budgetary and product requirements
Budget management - Define and gain agreement on a project budget - ensures project tracks to the budget
Provide in-depth business & technical strategy for systems solutions, identify business gaps and correlate to potential solutions
Drive the prioritization process by which decisions are made around the final project scope
Execute on project plans and assist others in executing on project plans across the various groups
Make scope/schedule/resources (including budget) trade-off decisions with little or no guidance
Ensure line of business priorities and IT capabilities (technology and resources) are aligned
Analyze and document requirements and use appropriate techniques to refine, decompose, review and validate requirements. Ensure requirements are traceable, well communicated and aligned to the overall business or solution vision
Demonstrate a sound understanding of how the overall business solution is positioned, deployed and supported
Communicate and build consensus with other groups (internal customers, vendors, external customers, senior technical/manager levels and executive management.) regarding the solution and options available to implement it
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of Program/Project management
Minimum 5 years delivering BI solutions to Matrix organizations
Preferred Qualifications:
Agile, SCRUM or related
