DBA Data Architect (Job Number:321381)

Description:

SAIC's Information Analytics Technology Division currently has a Full time assignment for a DBA/Data Architect experienced in Oracle and NoSQL methods.

The DH Enclave (DHE) is a classified program which supports a number of projects within the DIA and the IC in general. The DHE uses a variety of advanced analytic applications to complete project/program missions with users distributed worldwide. Palantir is one of several major applications in use, supported by a Back End Oracle DB. The DHE projects and programs are ingesting and developing datasets which not only go into Palantir (which uses a hybrid approach to managing objects in Oracle/ADM), but also other datasets which can be used for applied R&D and analytics based on other applications in our production/staging environment. The variety of data holdings can range from several million objects to more than several hundred terabytes. Data objects may come from structured/unstructured text, multimedia sources, and general social media. The candidate will need to work with the customer, IC analysts, and software engineers to define and refine requirements of the enterprise database design, develop implementation tasks, identify potential performance and implementation issues, and resolve trade-offs.

The focus for data administration is expected to grow beyond Oracle, and most especially with clustered and other non-relational data storage and analytics models. While the position requires solid Oracle administration skills, it also requires knowledge and experience with a hybrid of Oracle, NoSql, and SQL subsystems depending on the project needs and tradeoffs. An agile, iterative, results-oriented work style is the preferred development approach since it matches with the overall DHE environment. As such, this project provides an opportunity for career development, acquisition of new/advanced DB skills and methods, plus a collegial, supportive prototyping environment.

The candidate will work with the DHE data ingestion team, GIS architect/developer, application developers, and the Chief Engineer to integrate his/her work into the other part of the DH Enclave systems. The candidate will coordinate with others to design user interfaces and connectivity to non-Palantir applications (WOA, JDBC, ODBC, etc.) and assist with prototype development and refinements, including developing user models, conducting Front End research, and supporting usability throughout the prototype development cycle. Data integrity will also be a responsibility, including confirmation of DB contents through QA/QS test runs, defining and implementing backup protocols (including specification of equipment and B/U applications, as needed), and assisting with the updates of SSAA and other system documentation.

Qualifications:
Required Skills:

Bachelors Degree and 10+ year's experience. (Master's Degree preferred.)

Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance. The work will be at the DIAC, Anacostia, Washington DC or Quantico

Candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of Oracle database administration tasks including installation, configuration, backup, and recovery processes.

Candidate must have a solid understanding of Linux/UNIX system administration tasks, to include system installation and performance management; local and networked storage architecture, configuration, and management; and experience with network infrastructure components (eg Router, Switches, rack management, etc)

Experience with clustered storage and analysis, including Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, etc. and NoSQL methods, IAAS/SAAS, and VMWare experience is a plus.
