SAIC is looking for a Backup and Recovery expert with specialization in the Netbackup. Candidate must be able to acclimate to our highly regulated/process driven environment quickly and contribute immediately across 3 geographically distributed Enterprise Data Centers.

SCOPE: Plan and execute a variety of highly complex assignments associated with managing and controlling Enterprise Backup systems. Support daily backups, archive processes, data restore processes, policy management, media health and monitoring processes, and tape management processes. Analyze system faults, and run diagnostic tests on backup systems and hardware to detect problems. Work on complex problems which may span multiple systems and technologies in the backup/restore/server/network areas. Review and prepare documentation for backup environment, test and installation of software. Investigate and recommend methods and techniques to be used for obtaining solutions. Initiate preventive maintenance on the backup systems as well as implement repairs to system/environment in response to system failures. Administer and/or oversee systems/environment solutions for multiple tasks with varying priorities and schedules which are critical to the success of the program. Plan backup environment requirements for individual projects. May participate in the creation maintenance of the overall management plan. May act as an internal consultant providing work direction and technical guidance to others. Regularly interact with senior management. Responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff.

Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Solaris/AIX based system administration. 9 years of experience may substitute in lieu of degree.

2 years hands on experience working with Symantec NetBackup 7.x in enterprise data center implementations managing multi server/OS backup strategies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Experience with Symantec OpsCenter, NetBackup vSphere API, and Oracle/SQL database administration desired.
