SAIC's C3 Systems and Analysis Division in the Mission Systems Integration Operation has an immediate opportunity for a part time or Full time intern Software Engineer Intern located in Morgantown, WV. Position will provide support for a variety of command and control related software and associated research and development projects as well as entail basic server maintenance as a secondary responsibility.
The successful candidate will be energetic, eager to learn and comfortable working in a peer-to-peer environment.
Under general supervision, primary responsibilities will include software development and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems. The candidate must have the ability to generate code according to software coding guidelines and industry best practices; must produce software documentation and run software through unit test procedures.
Tasks may include:
Support software development related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems
Generate code according to software coding guidelines and industry best practices.
Produce software documentation and run software through unit test procedures
Configure various tools that aid the engineering team (CM server, CI server, project tracking server, etc.)
Support testing activities
Secondary responsibilities may include system administration as it relates to installation, implementation, operations, and maintenance of hardware and software associated with Servers, Local Area Networks (LAN's), Wide Area Networks (WAN's) and associated communications. This will include Windows 2003 and 2008 Servers, Unit/Linux-based Servers, server application software.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a HS diploma and 3+ years of related experience to include current college course-work in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Science, or a related technical field.
Should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
1. Software development knowledge and experience with web application development and web-scale architectures.
2. Ability to design, document, implement and debug applications using Java, JavaScript, HTML5 and other web technologies.
3. Experience using UI frameworks such as GWT and/or Java Swing, et.al.
4. Knowledge of multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, Linux, etc.).
5. Knowledge of Java programming language (additional knowledge of other programming languages desirable, eg C#, C++, etc.).
6. Knowledge of basic web technologies including HTML5, CSS, XML, SOAP, WSDL/XSD, JavaScript and JQuery.
7. Knowledge of at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).
8. Knowledge of basic IP network technologies (TCP/IP, UDP) and socket programming
9. Knowledge of basic UNIX based Shell Scripting (BASH)
10. Knowledge of web application technologies, such as Apache Tomcat,Redhat JBoss, Oracle Weblogicetc.
11. Knowledge of a version control system (eg Git, SVN, CVS)
12. Knowledge of a build management tool (eg Ant, Maven, Gradle, Buildr)
13. Knowledge of host operating systems such as Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
14. Knowledge of Virtual Machine Hosting Environments such as VMware or VirtualBox
15. Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDE) such as Eclipse etc.
