Description:
Scottrade, Inc. has a Manager of Project and Release Management position available in Westminster, CO. The main purpose of this position is to manage and lead various positions within the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) including Senior Project Managers, Project and Release Managers, and Project Analysts that support one or more lines of business from a service delivery standpoint. This role is responsible for managing the people, processes, and tools necessary to support timely and effective management and delivery of projects and releases consistent with best practices and aligned to the firm's strategy.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and administrate project and release management processes by appropriate resource allocation, consistent communication, accurate specifications/documentation/reporting, auditable budgets, and timely delivery of end products.
* Conduct periodic gate reviews and develop and publish the necessary management, audit and ad-hoc reports to ensure projects are adhering to expected standards.
* Hire, mentor and create development plans for all PMO associates to ensure consistent leadership approaches, methodologies, tools, techniques and procedures are effectively utilized.
* Lead progressive improvements and on-going operation of the PMO. Foster creative and effective project management practices through regular evaluation and ongoing improvement of the PMO processes and tools.
* Track, compile and report on KPIs. Additionally, analyze and draw conclusions on the departmental successes and needed improvement based on KPI data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Strong understanding of the project life cycle and how it corresponds to various system development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile, Iterative, or Waterfall.
* Familiar with the Brokerage Industry and/or Financial Services systems.
* Strong general management knowledge and skills such as departmental planning, personnel administration, and information technology.
* Demonstrated ability to assume higher-level leadership roles and responsibilities when necessary (critical thinking and decision-making skills).
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate/manage conflict effectively at all levels of management and peers.
* Ability to display sensitivity to others and use influence to address individual performance issues.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to speak effectively and present information to external customers, the general public and groups of peers or management with Scottrade, in person or via phone conversation.
* Ability to quickly learn and grasp technical and industry concepts.
* Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administation, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
* 8+ years Project and/or Program Management experience required.
* 5+ years experience leading or managing project teams required. 3+ years direct line management experience preferred.
* 3+ years software development life cycle experience required.
* 3+ years online technology project experience preferred.
* PMI (Project Management Institute) membership preferred.
* PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification preferred.
