Capital One is hiring a Scrum Master to support one or more delivery teams within the fast-paced and growing digital and mobile application teams. As the Scrum Master, you will be a critical member of the core delivery team empowered to help build high performing teams, build shippable product for these new exciting channels, and responsible for leading Agile project coordination to support various upstream and downstream teams. In addition to leading daily Scrum meetings, you will also be responsible for the management of complex, high value IT delivery projects that require the coordination of development work or technology work on multiple platforms to achieve desired functionality.
As a Scrum Master, you will work across all of Capital One's lines of business, and you will gain exposure in a mix of Infrastructure (Data Center, Network, End user Services, etc), Commercial Bank, Retail Bank (ATM, Sales and Service, Teller, etc), Data Services (Data Warehouse), Financial Services (Home Loans, Auto Loans, Consumer Lending), and Card Services.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule/facilitate sprint planning meeting(s) prior to the beginning of each sprint. Work with product owners and delivery teams to groom stories in advance of each sprint.
- Communicate committed stories for the upcoming sprint to the backlog owner and stakeholders
- Support the Backlog Owner and Portfolio Manager in updating monthly the 30-60-90 release roadmap based on the health and priority of the stories of the backlog and planning poker estimates/sizing
- Schedule and facilitate daily stand up meetings
- Adding or removing stories based on burn-down of the current sprint (discuss w/BSA and TPO or Lead BSA)
- Represent the team daily at the Scrum of Scrums (S2) meeting to report progress against burndown
- If deviating from the ideal burndown line then communicate teams plan/commitment to get back to the line, report impediments for escalation, identify risks/concerns to the S3 to help resolve
- Facilitate retrospective meetings at the end of each sprint/project - ensure highest priority retrospective points are followed up on and closed out
- Monitor team backlog in v1 daily and ensure it accurately reflects the current state, including time to be burned and status
- Coordinate as needed with other PM's, Resource Managers, or Portfolio Managers the delivery of non-development components
- Facilitate team representation in Sprint Reviews
- Participate in Release retrospective and cross team retrospectives
- Participate in customer councils if and when required
- Strong drive to complete when faced with ambiguity
- Ability to facilitate impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner
- Be active in a community of scrummasters to receive mentoring from Agile coaches as well as provide coaching for other teammates sharing best practices and lessons learned.
- Portfolio and budget management (Oracle: Clarity preferred)
- Project maintenance
- AIP , DTC
- Forecasting and budgeting
- Helping communicate to management the roadmap (1-3 months+)
- Manage business relationships with other component teams necessary for product release
- Conduit to other teams and LOBs with which the team is interacting
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
- 2 years of experience leading Agile Scrum teams
- 2 years of experience in Project Management
- 2 years of experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business or Project Management
- CSM (Certified Scrummaster) or CST (Certified Scrum Trainer)
- PMP or Masters Certificate of Project Management (CPM)
- 5 years of experience in Project Management
- 5 years of experience in Systems Analysis
- 5 years of experience in Client management
- 2 years of experience in Conversion and/or integration
- 5 years of experience in Working in a finance company and with application life cycles
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of Version One
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Clarity
