Solutions Architect Applications (Contract)

Location: Sydney Country: Australia

Client are a well established Australian media brand. They require and applications focused Solution Architect to join their existing team to deliver ongoing concurrent projects. Six months initially but with excellent propescts of extension.

Key responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and contribute to existing standards and guidelines used for the development, implementation and support of
    client's Application architecture.
  • In relation to the client's applications environment:
    Assist in the planning and development of major projects,
    Prepare high-level solution designs and estimates with input from infrastructure architects as required,
    Research and prepare recommendations for technology solutions,
    Analyse client needs and ensure client requirements and service levels are met.
    Assist in the evaluation and selection of new technology products that fit with client's enterprise architecture and
    technology standards
  • Work collaboratively with the IT implementation and support teams to:
    provide technical leadership on specialist projects,
    ensure the solutions are implemented and maintained in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand business needs and constraints, translating into solution designs.
  • Manage own workload to deliver agreed work priorities.
  • Keep up to date with developments in technology relevant to IT enterprise applications.
  • Actively promote client Principles and apply all relevant policies and guidelines including Equity and Diversity and WHS.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or extensive experience in designing and developing enterprise-grade IT applications.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in application and solution design in a large-scale, complex IT environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge in the following areas:
  1. Complex system design utilising Microsoft technologies and AWS cloud services.
  2. Knowledge of SAP system technologies desirable.
  3. Systems development life cycle and project management life cycles.
  4. Application security best practices and methodologies.
  • Ability to undertake reviews of projects and technical implementations to ensure compliance with policy and governance.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently manage your own workload to agreed priorities and timelines across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High level oral/written communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with an ability to understand business needs and explain technical issues to team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to client's principles and policies including Equity and Diversity and WHS.
