Aveo, Australia''s leading retirement community owner/operator is seeking an experienced, motivated and pro-active Community Finance Reporting Manager based in our Sydney corporate office in a full time role.
About the role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller - Retirement Villages, this role will primarily be aimed at providing support in maintaining a high standard of management and financial reporting. This role will assist the Financial Controller with day-to-day management of the community finance team as well as being the first point of contact in the finance team for more difficult or time consuming villages.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
  • Provide key interface with Community Managers for all accounting and administration matters
  • For some villages, to be a business partner to community managers and operations managers
  • Ensure the accuracy of community monthly financial statements including leading the month end forecasting process and variance analysis
  • Quarterly forecast in conjunction with Community Manager and Operations
  • Coordinate the annual audit timetable for allocated communities and ensure that all annual accounts are finalised within the time set down by the respective State''s legislation
  • Ensure that Balance Sheet reconciliations for allocated communities are cleared each month and maintained in accordance with accounting principles Quarterly forecast in conjunction with Community Manager and Operations
  • Lead Budget Process in conjunction with Community Manager and Operations Manager as well as Community Finance and Resident''s committees
  • Provide Leadership and direction to the Accounting Team, in conjunction with the Financial Controller(Management Accountants, Assistant Accountants and Levies Officers)
  • Standardisation of systems and processes across the portfolio
  • Drive process improvement initiatives within Finance and Finance Systems
  • Driving change management and process improvement across the communities in conjunction with Operations
To be considered for this role you will have:
  • Demonstrated track record in finance roles with a proven record of merit based promotion
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards and general accepted practices, and an understanding of internal accounting processes
  • Property Management and Body Corporate Management experience
  • Experience in managing difficult customers/clients, influencing others
  • Exposure to GST legislation
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills
  • Ability to provide consistent, high quality management information to the business
  • Ability to ensure that all policies, procedures and practices reinforce the achievement of a strong relationship with related internal and external Finance parties
  • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to motivate others
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal as well as a high level of numeracy
  • Independence - able to work with minimum supervision
  • Team work - both internally and cross divisional
  • Attention to detail with high personal standards
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (preferred)
  • CA/CPA status or studying towards (preferred)
