End User Support Officer (Permanent)

Location: Etobicoke, Toronto, ON Country: Canada Rate: $1,094.49 - $1,342.13 per Week

End User Support Officer
We are seeking dynamic problem-solvers who enjoy interaction with clients to coordinate implementation, administration and operation of systems, local area networks (LANS) database and work stations for Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario at the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

What can I expect to do in this role?

As an End User Support Officer, you will:

Coordinate administration of the local systems environment by: conducting needs analysis for clients; assessing technology and preparing business cases on acquisition of hardware, software and services.
Coordinate projects such as local implementation of ministry-wide systems and perform local database development.
Monitor systems/network performance to ensure continue service and high availability.
Act as liaison between branch and IJITD by; representing branch on ministry initiative/committee/projects and serve as systems advisor on program (non-systems) projects.
Provide advice to clients on effective use of information technology by assessing end user computer literacy and determining training needs and provide trouble-shooting services for the resolution of technical problems.
Maintain and develop websites.

Location: Etobicoke

How do I qualify?


You have a valid driver's licence to travel extensively throughout the province to support remote field work.
You have the ability to acquire federal government Secret Security Clearance.

Technical Knowledge:

You have extensive knowledge of micro/personal computer system technologies and operating systems, local area network operating procedures, ministry standard/commonly used and customized application software, and database software and design, in order to provide advice to clients on acquisition of hardware and software, provide troubleshooting and end user support services and training; and anticipate and resolve system operating deficiencies.
You have knowledge of programming concepts, techniques and languages, application development tools, to design local applications by developing user specifications and performing programming.
You have knowledge of inventory management principles and practices to oversee the assets, including investigative and communication technologies.
You have familiarity with investigative technologies to ensure appropriate solutions and systems are made available and maintain current inventory in sound working order.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills

You can analyze and evaluate key business, financial and technical impacts (costs and benefits) of proposed projects.
You can develop relevant and appropriate performance measures to assess the performance of projects.
You can ensure continuity of deliverables and identify change requirements in the face of business transformation.

Communication, Interpersonal and Consulting skills

You can establish and maintain effective relationships and provide systems advice to staff, gain agreement/consensus with external stakeholders.
You have consultation skills to ascertain Bureau and external stakeholder business, system operations and related technology needs.
You possess negotiation skills to participate in contract agreements with stakeholders and vendors.
You can prepare and present a broad range of materials including: presentations, memos, business cases, briefing notes and correspondences intended for a wide range of audiences.

Other Essential Knowledge:

You have knowledge of principles, policies, directives and guidelines that govern the allocation and management of financial, human and physical resources.
You have the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of program objectives and business goals and needs of clients to ensure development of technology plans meet clients operating business goals.

Salary Range: $1,094.49 - $1,342.13 per week

  • In accordance with the Ontario Public Service (OPS), Employment Screening Checks Policy (ESCP), the top candidate(s) may be required to undergo a security screening check. Refer to the above to determine the screening checks that are required for this position.

  • You will be responsible for obtaining the criminal record check at your own expense and provide it, along with your written consent, to the Transition and Security Office (TSO), Talent Acquisition Branch (TAB), HR Service Delivery Division (HRSDD) to evaluate the results. If applicable, the TSO, with your written consent, will request and obtain any additional employment screening checks that were not obtained directly by you. (Note: If a Vulnerable Sector Screening Check is required, it must also be obtained in person at your local police service).

  • A record under the Criminal Code and/or other federal offence record(s) does not automatically mean you will be ineligible for the position. The employment screening check(s) will only be reviewed and evaluated by the TSO for the purpose of making a security clearance decision. The details of an individual's employment screening check(s) will be considered in specific relation to the duties and responsibilities of the position being filled. Employment screening check records will be maintained by the TSO and kept strictly confidential.
