Education

Technical School Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or Computer Networking and Technical Support, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience, or equivalent knowledge.

Experience

Preferred 4 to 5 years of hands-on IT support, problem-solving experience in a MS Network Environment.

Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 2012/2016 Small Business Server environment
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory Management
  • Strong knowledge Antivirus Software
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), computer workstations and peripheral equipment
  • Basic knowledge of telecom equipment
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies
  • Knowledge of Jonas Software is a strong asset
  • MCSE certification is an asset

Skills

  • Ability to listen, comprehend and communicate utilizing strong and clear English Verbal Communication Skills is an absolute must
  • Troubleshooting skills on system-level problems (Microsoft) such as printing issues, MS Office, Symantec Norton Antivirus Corporate edition

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of Clients' IT Environment through remote connectivity
  • Scheduling and performing site visits in case job cannot be done remotely
  • Maintaining and updating Clients information database (log calls, visits, reports on troubleshooting, update equipment change)
  • Building and configuring new equipment for the clients
  • Locating troubleshooting resources and effectively escalating issues in a timely manner
  • Implementing data, software and hardware security procedures
  • Install, remove, maintain and repair aerial and underground telephone and other telecommunication transmission and distribution lines, cables and associated hardware
  • Install, repair, and maintain cable television lines and cables
  • Splice and repair various types and sizes of telephone and other telecommunication cables including single line, coaxial and fibre optic
  • Inspect and test telecommunication transmission lines and cables for transmission characteristics and to locate faults
  • Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures or work in confined spaces such as trenches, tunnels and crawl spaces
  • Communicate with other workers to coordinate the preparation and completion of work assignments
  • Perform cable installations inside and outside buildings, including cutting, stripping, tying, taping, and labeling cables
  • Terminate and splice cables inside and outside buildings, including soldering connections and installing electrical protection equipment
  • Perform labeling, testing, and documentation, verifying cabling systems according to manufacturer¡¦s specifications

Physical Demands

  • Daily lifting of up to 30lbs (average computer or server) is required.
  • Bending, sitting, standing, and driving.
  • Ability to work in dusty, dirty, uncomfortable environments.

Working Conditions

  • You must own a car with valid driving license (abstract record required).
  • You are required to travel up to 60% of the time.
  • You must be prepared to work evenings and weekends occasionally in order to complete key IT projects that can only be done outside of normal business hours.
  • You must be prepared to participate in an On Call after hours support rotation.
