We are currently sourcing for a HR Strategic Partner to partner primarily with our HR function, leadership team and other business areas. A main focus in your day-to-day will be to work with HR leadership in establishing people plans and actions in support of our business strategy. You will get to work closely with integrated teams across HR operations and our HR Communities of Expertise (COE) in order to deliver on priority people solutions.

You will use your expertise to :

  • Partner in diagnosing organizational effectiveness opportunities and identify gaps that impact functional results
  • Focus on strategic issues and activities that flow from our people strategy
  • Support culture and talent outcomes in relation to strategic objectives
  • Manage HR cycles with the leadership group (eg performance management, compensation, career development, workforce planning, change management, and succession planning)
  • Coach leaders to enable team effectiveness and leadership alignment sessions
  • Manage and facilitate talent pipeline conversations to drive impactful plans and action in order to mitigate risks and prepare for future needs
  • Maintain strong relationships with our internal COEs and leader services team to realize the most effective outcomes of people plans and strategies
  • Implement solutions that cut across multiple disciplines, even those beyond people and organizational solutions
  • Participate in various HR projects, both within the business and across our functional groups

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Seven years of experience as a hands-on HR business partner
  • A Bachelor's degree in HR Management or another related field
  • Strong coaching abilities to successfully partner with leaders and gain their trust
  • The ability to think and act strategically and positively influence others without direct authority
  • An analytical and problem-solving mindset in order to align talent data and insights with business opportunities
  • Alignment with our values

Preference for:

  • A Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
  • Strong functional knowledge of HR policies, programs and processes
  • Positive relationship management and advising skills to align with client groups and key partners
  • Adaptability to change and the ability to work in a fast-paced, corporate environment
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
