Are you passionate about project management and environment, health and safety (EHS)? Are you a self-starter with extraordinary communication skills and enjoy interacting cross-functionally? In this temporary role, you will support the enterprise on COVID-19 response activities such as temperature screening and other related activities through program coordination.

You will use your expertise to :

  • Provide technical advice, expertise and direction on Suncor's enterprise temperature screening program implementation, integration and stewardship
  • Leverage on the temperature screening integrated team for functional support, and act as interface between Central EHS and the various business units
  • Program Management and coordination in an influencing non-authoritarian style
  • Support temperature screening program planning, set-up, and optimization at locations across enterprise
  • Manage financial and project controls (overall project cost, progress monitoring and variance analysis)
  • Maintain and update relevant general policies, procedures and protocols
  • Keep abreast with emerging trends and jurisdictional requirements pertaining to PPE use for protection against COVID-19 and temperature screening. Formulate appropriate recommendations to the pandemic planning team
  • Participate in risk reviews, incident investigations, root cause analyses and development of corrective actions related to pandemic response and planning
  • Conduct assurance audits and lessons learned assessments to ensure continuous improvement of Suncor processes

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Five or more years of experience in an industrial setting
  • A Bachelor's degree in the area of Occupational Hygiene, Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Occupational Safety and Health
  • Project Management Certificate from a recognized institution and/or registered Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Outstanding collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills to report on risks posed by identified health hazard, and on monitored results to management
  • A continuous improvement mindset and are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
  • Alignment with our values : safety above all else, stronger together, operational discipline, curiosity and lifelong learning, and act with integrity

Preference for:

  • Extensive experience identifying, assessing and managing EHS risks on large scale construction and/or oil and gas sites
  • Extensive experience performing EHS field audits/assessments on contractors, including the provision of relevant feedback and recommendations
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation relating to occupational health and safety
  • A real passion for providing solutions to complex issues utilizing proficient analytical, problem solving skills and independent discernment

Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.
  • Some travel to various Suncor worksites
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
