This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.


Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, the Registered Nurse works to full scope of practice as an independent practitioner within a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team, and is responsible for a full range of systems-informed primary care treatment. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, withdrawal management, counseling, team leadership, and disposition planning and for ensuring optimal levels of client care in programming related to withdrawal management and wellness day programming. Community outreach may be part of this role; ensuring continuity of care will be an important aspect of this role.

The Registered Nurse carries out all responsibilities and activities in congruence with the mission, policies, goals and objectives and organizational structure of Mental Health & Addiction Services, and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.


  • Diploma RN or Baccalaureate degree in nursing
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use general office equipment and audiovisual equipment
  • Ability to use medical equipment involved in client assessment and care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of population health as it relates to prevention, health promotion and treatment approaches
  • Demonstrated understanding of family and social networks as systems/emotional units
  • Knowledge of a community-based approach to service delivery

Preferred (Considered an Asset)
* Two years nursing experience
* Competencies in other languages as asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

Permanent Full-Time (100%) Position; 75.00 Hours Bi-weekly.

Please note: Shifts include Days Monday-Friday.

Salary Information

Registered Nurse (RN-2):

$34.3461 - $40.4660 hourly

($41.8822 hourly with 25 years or registered nursing experience).
