Technical Lead. French Speaking. Southwest France, Pyrenees-Atlantiques.

We are recruiting for an experienced PHP REACT Technical Lead Developer to join a global information asset/Intellectual Property software solution vendor and services business.

Together with the location, beautiful environment, international community, hot summers and mild winters, the location is rated as one of the best places to live in France for expats. The office is only 85km from the Spanish border.

The role is permanent, and you must be prepared to live in commutable distance of the office AND you must speak FRENCH.

The role is working for a global software vendor and services company within the intellectual property and information asset management sector who is experiencing rapid growth, growing its user base from 200,000 customers to over 1,500,000 in just a few years.

This role is working for their services business based in Southwest France. With a global business and core IT team based in London and the USA, remote working is commonplace in this organisation. BUT given that this position is senior in terms of technically leading and mentoring 7 developers, this requires a large amount of office-based working. Thus, ideally this role would be more suitable to someone living in commutable distance or is prepared to relocate to this area.

French language skills are mandatory.

The role will be working to manage the technical output of a growing development team of currently 8 people. The IP application has a diverse set of users from an internal user base of 80 people to over 1,500,000 customers externally as part of a global set of applications. The application connects via webservices into the global product set.


This is a Lead Analyst/Developer position, so you will be an expert in development within these technologies or equivalent and performing standard customer analysis and writing user stories.

Although your responsibilities will include mentoring the developers and performing code reviews and upskilling, the role still is a hands-on development role.

The technology is Legacy PHP, transitioning to REACT. You will be an expert in full stack development and Back End and Front End technologies.

Experience of REACT is not essential IF you have equivalent skills ie Inferno.

You will work alongside the Technical Architect and hence you will have some skills in design and architecture. This is a Pair Programming and TDD environment.

Technical Environment:

Linux and Windows.

React JS, PHP 7.

MariaDB, MongoDB

PHPStorm, Git, Docker.

About You:

This role suits someone living in the Southwest of France or someone willing to relocate to this beautiful part of the world. The only prerequisite is that you do not need a work permit. Our client does not sponsor work permits.

You will speak French and English to a business level.

The role has great potential for career progression. Whilst initially a Technical Lead, there is opportunity to develop into a Team Lead and the opportunity to grow within this very entrepreneurial company experiencing rapid growth and dominance in their sector. Their external client list contains some of the World's biggest brands.

In terms of skills, you will need to be an expert in the Back End and Front End technologies listed OR very equivalent eg you might be a PHP and Inferno expert.

You will have worked as a Technical Lead with experience of code reviews or pair programming, skills mentoring, upskilling of developers etc
