Senior Support Engineer (Permanent)

Senior Support Engineer

Our client is hiring an experienced and confident Senior Support Engineer to join a team of highly technical Support Engineers based within London area. This role will give the chosen engineer an opportunity to partner with multi million pound organisation and advise them how to use their IT departments.

You will be a good communicator, technical proficient and be able to provide strategic guidance to clients with regard to technology and IT infrastructures and will enable major business process change through enhancements to clients IT. Additionally the chosen candidate will need to provide 3rd line BAU to the Service Desk Team, sometimes acting as a mentor.

  • Meeting with clients to determine their technology requirements
  • Clarifying a client's system specifications, understanding their working practices and the nature of their business
  • Defining software, hardware and network requirements
  • Analysing IT requirements within clients and giving independent and objective advice
  • Helping clients with change-management activities
  • Designing, testing, installing and monitoring new systems in the Project phase
The candidate will be technical proficient in the following areas:
  • Microsoft technologies, including Office 365 Cloud, Exchange and SQL; experience of designing and implementing MS Azure/AWS would be advantageous
  • Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy
  • Virtualization technologies including Hyper-V or VMware
  • Network hardware including Routers, Firewall, Switches, Wi-Fi (Vendor Neutral)
  • Storage including SAN, NAS, SCSI, iSCSI and Fibre Channel
  • Mobile Device Management, Security products
  • Backup and DR technologies with a strong understanding of BCP.
