Senior IT Engineer (3rd line) (Permanent)

Location: Cardiff, Wales Country: UK Rate: £32k-£38k per annum
 

Job Title: Senior IT engineer (3rd line)
Salary: £32,000 to £38,000pa (Dependant on experience)
Location: Cardiff, South Wales

My client is very well known in the financial market and voted in the top 100 companies to work for. With modern offices in Cardiff which include Games rooms, break out areas, bar areas that are open on Fridays. Work life balance is at the heart of this business, work hard play hard mentality.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the entire life cycle of all on premise and cloud-based architecture and end user services. The role will require a proven technical background across corporate network management along with a combination of Linux and Windows server experience.

The nature of the role will be to work on interesting escalations from the support team along with taking on large scale global projects. My client has 4 new exciting projects coming up around O365 deployment, server, Citrix and networking which you'll be heavily involved in. This role is split 60% project and 40% BAU.

Key responsibilities:

*Provide technical expertise for the following:
-Core Network services
-Server and storage infrastructure
-Availability monitoring/report tools
-Capacity management & availability
-Office 365

*Troubleshoot and resolve network and desktop/laptop/server problems
*Ensure that calls assigned to 3rd line are being dealt with and meeting SLAs
*Monitoring of Event Management Toolsets and taking the appropriate action for alerts that are generated
*Supporting global infrastructure strategy planning
*Mentoring other team members
*Work with other teams on problems and projects when needed
*Promoting continuous improvement and best practice within the department

Key skills:
*Using IT Help Desk Software (eg Assyst, Remedy)
*Windows server support (2008/R2 & 2012/R2 & 2016)
*Core Network management & design, monitoring and reporting
*Extensive FTP, SFTP DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP experience
*Good understanding of Firewall rules and Proxy configuration
*Active Directory Management & VMWare
*Citrix (XenApp)
*Exchange (2007, 2010, 2013)/Office 365 configuration and support, including Intune, Compliance & Security
