Senior BI Analyst (Permanent)

Location: Chesterfield Country: UK Rate: £32k - £36k per annum

Senior BI Analyst

The purpose of this role is to make use of large sets of business data, which covers warehousing, stock control, transport, and finance; collating, comparing, analysing and presenting to Senior Stakeholders to inform effective decision making and identify areas of inefficiency.

Client Details

The client are a food and drink logistics provider, working with household name brands across the UK & Ireland. They turn over £500m+ annually, and are continuously expanding.

Working within the food logistics distribution and supply chain, the client are a leading name who are seeking to improve their operations through leveraging the benefits of an effective BI strategy.

Sites are located nationwide, this role is based at the Chesterfield site.


The key responsibilities for the Senior BI Analyst are as follows;

  • To establish strong relationships with those in the organisation who generate the data to enable effective and efficient sharing of information
  • To implement a data analysis approach that provides a telling insight into the business combining data from multiple sources, that promotes discussion and action amongst GB Senior Management
  • Build a strong link with Senior Management and their teams to ensure that there are no overlaps or gaps with their work on effectiveness data.
  • Manage and develop the existing suite of reports - improve consistency, automation, format, reliability
  • Where useful Integrate Power BI into the site - develop current reporting and create new
  • Design, maintain and automate data reports with actionable insights to stakeholders internally and externally
  • Support different stakeholders in interpreting data and analysing results
  • Identify different data sources, extract and manipulate data to ensure databases evolve to keep pace with the teams requirements.


The successful candidate for the Senior BI Analyst position will have;


  • Enthusiasm for data management and analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of Power BI
  • Strong working knowledge of Power Query
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical mind and attention to detail
  • Proven critical thinker with the ability to detect trends and patterns within data
  • Evidence of contributing to continuous improvement and fostering a creative approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge of operational analysis in a business context
  • Time management skills to ensure deadlines are consistently achieved
  • Interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with those who generate operational data.
  • The appropriate candidate should have been exposed to gathering and analysing large and complex datasets
  • Candidate must have exceptional communication skills as well as the ability to simplify complex information for internal and external customers
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Attention to detail; to quality check own work and assess source data quality
  • GCSE Mathematics - Minimum B


  • Ability to use SQL query language
  • Ability to code in Microsoft VBA
  • Previously worked in a distribution/warehouse environment
