Security Engineer (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £475-£550 A Day
 

Security Engineer - MSWindows; Arcsight; 2FA - MFA; CEH, CCNP, CISSP, GIAC

Our client is in urgent need of a skilled IT Security Engineer to assist the business with a high volume of security focused projects scheduled for 2019. The Security Engineer is accountable for security low level design activities delivered by the organisation's IT Engineering practice. Reporting into the Security Architect, the role will work very closely with IT Engineering, and Security Operations functions, and will ensure that high level designs and security requirements are translated into effective, efficient and maintainable security controls within the solutions delivered. The role will be tasked with ensuring that the quality of security engineering delivered is consistent with the inherent security threat and risk profile of a global exchange designated as critical national infrastructure.

The Security Engineer will:

  • Develop and provide a security engineering function;
  • Display ability to deliver on a major Major MS Windows transformation projedct project
  • Maintain security technical engineering standards to meet information security policies and controls, industry standards and best practices, applicable legislative and regulatory requirements;
  • Complete Low Level Designs and other relevant artefacts required by project life cycle;
  • Configuration of security technologies;
  • Support engineering colleagues to deliver secure configurations for technology implemented;
  • Support test and assurance activities and completion of operational acceptance processes;
  • Troubleshooting implementation and production security issues;
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and product evaluation;
  • Provide consultancy and guidance to stakeholders including Architects, Engineering, Operations and Project Managers during project life cycle.
  • Promote security engineering practices and educate colleagues.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of security technologies.
  • Oversee and manage Design and Assurance activities including whitebox and blackbox testing, software assurance using static and dynamic code analysis, and pen testing.
  • Develop reference patterns for security architecture.
  • Provide support to Security Architect as directed including out office cover.

The Security Engineer will demonstrate:

  • Highly desirable to have professional qualifications such as CEH, CCNP, CISSP, GIAC (GSEC/GCIH/GCIA)
  • Relevant security engineering experience
  • Strong hands on understanding in some of the following areas or technologies would be of benefit:
    • Firewall and intrusion detection/prevention protocols
    • MS Windows based experience
    • Arcsight
    • Secure coding practices, ethical hacking and threat modelling
    • Windows, UNIX and Linux operating systems
    • Virtualization technologies
    • MySQL/MSSQL database platforms
    • Identity and access management
    • Application security principles
    • Secure network architectures and technologies
    • Network and web related protocols (eg, TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols, etc.)
    • Advanced Persistent Threats (APT) prevention and detection
    • SIEM
    • Scripting and automation tools
  • Ability to tackle and solve complex problems.
  • Strong ability to research and understand new technical areas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to write clear and concise documentation
  • Analyze data and present findings
  • Must be able to communicate information security-related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
