DevOps/IT Operations Engineer - PowerShell - Automation - Monitoring (Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £65k + excellent package
 

My client a leading Global Asset Manager is looking for a 3rd line IT Support Engineer/IT Operations Engineer to join an growing IT Operation team.

The role needs an Engineer that can contribute to the existing team however there is an opportunity for someone to join that is looking for their next step in their career as training can be provided for the right individual.

The focus is to keep agility and stability in balance, and constantly strive to eliminate complexity in systems Operations Engineers on-board/and have the operational responsibility for.

Ideally the Engineer will have some experience with coding and Scripting with PowerShell, to be able to automate a task and be able to demonstrate automation.

Experience of: ServiceNow, Automic Workload Automation, Active Directory, Windows Server, Unix, Citrix, VMWare, SQL, Oracle, ITIL, Powershell, AWS

Experience of monitoring solutions ( for example Nagios, Splunk, Datadog, SCOM, Grafana, Sensu, New Relic etc) - ability to create alarms, monitors, dashboards, use tooling for proactive monitoring, cleansing of unnecessary alarms/reducing sea of red. We are looking for an Engineer that understands what good monitoring looks like.

The Engineer will need to improve and recover the availability of the application on the server, look at application fits and data flows and be able to show examples of how you would troubleshoot issues.

Automation - ability to automate tasks via coding or use of automation software to remove repeatable tasks. Creating automated recovery actions for common service faults, automation of releases, testing of new releases etc.

Service first attitude - focus on delivering great service to customers, responding to service incidents with focus on mitigation/service recovery. Ensuring actions identified post incident to reduce risk of re-occurrence are completed. Proactively monitoring service and identifying/reducing vulnerabilities. Using data to identify common themes in service failures. Ensuring readiness of resilient environments and that fail-over/DR strategy and test plans are regularly updated and tested.

Some out of hours/on-call may be required to fulfil this role at a later stage however there will be a 7x7 shift pattern of 7-4, 8-5, 9-6, 10-7.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to grow within their next position as the likelihood will mean this role would then develop into a Reliability Engineer level.
