A Data Engineer is required to join my prestigious client based in London, you will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering Data Platform as a Service solutions based on the Azure Data Platform.

The client is in the process of re-platforming their traditional, on-premises environment to a new architecture on Azure, utilising a diverse set of data technologies in Azure to offer new services, reporting and Real Time data pipelines.

As the Data Engineer you must have had recent experience with Azure as well as constantly developing technical skills and knowledge using the latest Azure technologies.

You will also be comfortable with stake holder engagement and take ownership for the delivery of key solution components.

Essential Experience required for the successful Data Engineer ( Azure/SQL DW/SQL DB/Data Factory ) include:

  • Ability to create and design solutions for a given problem or requirement using suitable technologies.
  • Ability to manage a project team allowing them to complete work items of high quality in suitable timeframes according to specification of proposed solution.
  • Demonstrable understanding of MS SQL Server modelling and indexing strategies in either an OLTP or OLAP environment.
  • Good understanding of the different Azure data services and their uses.
  • Ability to write complex queries and identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Good understanding of one or more ETL tools and able to create and maintain a simple ETL process, for large volumes of data.
  • Ability to monitor and maintain highly transactional production environments containing large data sets.
  • Ability to communicate an understanding of Transactions, Locking/Blocking and Isolation levels.
  • Team leading and mentoring experience.

Desirable Experience for the successful Data Engineer ( Azure/SQL DW/SQL DB/Data Factory ) include:

  • NoSQL development (Cosmos DB)
  • C#, .Net, Visual Studio
  • Git, VSTS
  • Continuous Integration/Deployment
  • Test Driven Development
  • Tableau Server, Power BI
  • Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics
  • RabbitMQ
