Devops engineer (Permanent)

Location: London Country: UK

Futureheads are partnered with 11FS to help them in hiring the top technical talent in London. Together we are building the DevOps team to disrupt digital banking. Please see below information from 11FS themselves

At 11:FS we see ourselves as the challenger team dedicated to helping banks and FS players transform themselves and the industry we love. For us this means rethinking what it takes to operate in financial services top to bottom to help our partners build and launch next generation digital propositions around the globe.

To do this we need an amazing team so we have pulled together the best in financial services and beyond. Our people have co-founded and grown challenger banks like Monzo, Starling, and Tandem, led the technology platforms at Nutmeg, Betfair and beyond and transformed banks like Lloyds, Halifax, Barclays, QNB and Natwest.

We are effectively building and launching new startup propositions for our clients and ourselves. We believe in treating every opportunity like a business, not a project and in treating resources as if they were finite, even when they are plentiful, and our customer's reputation is as important to us as our own.

We truly live our values at 11:FS, and they are critical to your entire journey here. Cultural fit is as, if not more, important as pure technical fit, and as part of your interview process we'll deep dive in our values and your beliefs. Everyone at 11:FS fits our 4 core values: Team, Attitude, Communication and Impact, and this remains at the core of our growth.

The role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join us here at 11:FS to work on Foundry, our first ledger-first flexible core banking platform. If you join us, you'll be joining an autonomous team with a focus on iterative development, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing - so we're looking for someone equally enthusiastic on these topics!

We know that building high performance, highly scalable, always available, fault tolerant systems is a team game, so we're also looking for someone who'll collaborate and play well with others. Lone geniuses are brilliant - just not for us.

We strongly believe in growing a system rather than building it, so our architecture and infrastructure is designed to allow small bits of code to be rolled to production really fast, and really often. So we'd like to find someone with experience of Cloud based, CD type environments - someone who understands that with this awesome power comes a lot of responsibility to make sure things are done right!

We'd also love to find someone with great experience of schedulers like Kubernetes, Mesos/Marathon and containers like Docker.

Requirements

  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration
  • Experience working with RESTful applications and microservices
  • Experience with one or more of AWS, GCP, Azure
  • Enthusiasm for CI/CD
  • An appreciation and understanding of cyber security best practice
  • Agile/iterative software development experience
  • A collaborative attitude and enthusiasm for being part of a team
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment
  • A self-starter who knows how to commit and deliver
  • The ability to be flexible and pragmatic with technology decisions
  • An understanding product-focussed software development ie principals such as minimum viable product
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to admit it when you are wrong and learn from it
  • Independence and self-motivation while still being able to work with others collaboratively
  • Desire to always improve and learn new things, and share this knowledge with the team

Foundry

11:FS Foundry is built from the industry-wide recognition that core banking is ready for massive disruption. Banks and financial services firms all over the world are built on outdated, monolithic systems that are complicated, prone to failures and costly to maintain. Fintechs looking to challenge the status quo often face prohibitive costs of adopting these same old systems, or the daunting task of building something new from scratch.

11:FS Foundry will revolutionise the playing field by offering a modular, cloud-based platform that allows large and small players launch new financial services and products in a matter of minutes rather than months. 11:FS Foundry entered into a partnership with DNB - Norway's largest financial services group, to bring the platform to market this year. To achieve this and change the core shape of the financial services industry, we need the best talent in the market. Come and get on the rocket ship.
