Oracle Data-Warehouse DBA/Specialist (Contract) (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: £Excellent

My client a tech consultancy is looking for an experienced Oracle Data Warehouse DBA/Specialist. The successful candidate will be part of a large organisation working exclusively on a large Oracle Data-Warehouse. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability and security of the Oracle platform.


  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of 24x7 data-warehouse
  • Support WAN based Golden Gate replication streams
  • Automate fixes to reoccurring issues, for example pipeline failures and data inconsistency
  • Handle common database procedures, such as; patching, upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Capacity Management/Information life cycle Management
  • Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
  • Development and the maintaining database objects
  • Assists in database changes impact analysis
  • Ensure Change management process is followed
  • Provide 24x7 support during on-call support rotation schedule
  • Collaborate with other team members and business stakeholders
  • Perform code reviews to ensure only robust, performance code is deployed

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5+ years overall IT experience, with 3+ years on Oracle RDBMS
  • Strong proficiency in Oracle database management and Shell Scripting
  • Solid experience with Oracle 12c and above
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovers (DR) options for Oracle
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • A good knowledge of operating systems, networking, database design, scalability, availability plus Datamodelling and normalization
  • Experience of deploying and supporting Oracle Golden Gate
  • Experience of Oracle Data Integrator
  • In depth knowledge and experience with advanced PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers and replication
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT, SVN etc.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent education.
