Sybase/SQL DBA (Contract)

Sybase/SQL DBA

A leading financial organisation are looking to hire a Sybase/SQL DBA to join their global DBA team supporting their Sybase SQL server and elastic search.

The candidate will need to have proven, large estate experience with SAP ASE, IQ, Replication Server and SQL Server. The team also supports Hadoop and Elastic Search so exposure to these products would be beneficial. Strong experience with RedHat Linux and Windows along with experience using one or more Scripting language (sh/ksh/bash/Perl/python/PowerShell/Ansible) is required, as well as use of scheduling systems (Autosys). The environment is rapidly changing, so as well as supporting the existing infrastructure, a large part of the role will include migration work from old physical environments to virtual, private and public clouds.

Skills, experience, and knowledge required:

  • The candidate will have worked for a minimum of 4 years in a large global organisation in a production DBA role supporting the named products
  • Experience with database design and performance tuning
  • Appreciation of OS problem investigation techniques within Linux and Windows environments
  • Scripting experience using one or more of: sh/ksh/bash/Perl/python/PowerShell/Ansible
  • Job scheduling using Autosys
  • Experience migrating databases to cloud based platforms is desirable
