Security Operations (SOC) Specialist - to 55k - Midlands (Permanent)

Location: Birmingham Country: UK Rate: £45k - £55k per annum
 

Security Operations (SOC) Specialist - to 55k + benefits - Midlands - SC Clearance Permanent Role

Our FTSE 100 client is looking for a Senior Security Operations (SOC) Specialist to play a key role in the implementation of people, process and technology security measures. You will be responsible for providing a point of escalation for junior team members and working proactively to ensure future security incidents are prevented by the implementation of technical security measures. You will need to be able to obtain SC Clearance- minimum 5-year residency in the UK. Ability to work from home 1-2 days a week and no shift- M-F 9-5

Key responsibilities;

  • Work as a key member of the SOC team, providing day-to-day guidance and support to SOC Analysts, delivering Real Time proactive monitoring and security incident response
  • Implementation of security improvement programmes to strengthen the businesses first line of defence
  • Report to senior management on the progress of major security initiatives
  • Remain up to date with current attack methods and characteristics in order to identify threats and implement treatment plans to prevent, mitigate and re-mediate

Desirable skills;

  • Demonstrate experience in a Security Operations role, leading risk identification and remediation activities within a Security Operations Centre environment
  • Thorough technical knowledge of Security Products, able to advise on strategy and impact of those products
  • Ability to influence and challenge constructively, particularly at Head of Function level
  • Effective communicator with Defence Sector experience

Technical Expertise -should include more than one of the following;

    • SIEM
    • Vulnerability Management
    • TCP/IP, LAN and WAN networking
    • Network Security (Firewalling)
    • IDS/IPS
    • DLP
    • Endpoint security
    • Knowledge of current cyber threats/trends
