Product Support Engineer (Permanent)

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire Country: UK Rate: £26k - £28k per annum

Are you a person who loves tech, always keen to learn and get exposed to new things

Are you a Product Support Professional that you have an overwhelming desire to configure and deliver new online products in a fast-paced and agile environment?

Do you want to work for one of the world's global players when it comes to in-house online platforms and work with existing systems and also aiding to configure and deliver new products onto the platform with some exposure to Unix Scripting and also creating complicated SQL queries?

Key Tasks

  • Refine, estimate, build, implement, test and support:
  1. Changes requested on existing client setups & products
  2. New clients & products onto the platform
  • Contribute in streamlining the product set up and maintenance process (tools and techniques) including the automation of changes and liaise with the relevant development teams
  • Act as a technical lead and support Delivery team in all technical aspects of client delivery.
  • Document new processes, new tools and new functionality. Train other team members on these where required.
  • Change Management (writing change procedure for deploying to the production environment). Scripting (Shell/SQL) to deploy changes onto Unix/Oracle environment.
  • Provide work effort estimates for new Projects and Change Requests
  • Review & refine changes to ensure accuracy and minimise all possible risk
  • Provide out of hours support on a rota basis for team changes

Key Skills


  • At least 1 years' experience in a technical IT capacity (eg professional services, programmer or tester) with a broad understanding of computer science fundamentals; Database concepts, Web architecture, XML handling, development and test-life cycle etc.
  • Experience with working with at least one mainstream SQL database and the ability to develop complex SQL queries.
  • Strong system and requirements analysis skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good attention to detail


  • Experience in the financial and/or professional services organization
  • Experience with Unix.
  • Agile methodology


  • Well organised - able to plan own work and track progress against a plan
  • Methodical worker, high attention to detail
  • Tenacious problem solver
  • Flexible, can cope with changing priorities
  • Strong communicator, both written & oral. Able to explain technical issues and solutions to peers and customers
  • Able to work within a fast-paced team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
