Manager, Global Partner Operations - GPO - EMEA (Permanent)

Role Summary

The Manager role, within Global Partner Operations is responsible managing the operational relationship with partners and providing excellent technical, service and project support to a portfolio of accounts. This may include providing operational business support for business partners such as acquirers or issuers to include project managing partner boardings, training partners on our tools and systems, leading operational projects to implement new products, releases and solutions, along with resolving escalated customer issues.

The team has been growing and accordingly there are multiple roles at various levels. This role requires a more experienced candidate with leadership experience given the responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating activities for other team members.

The Manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring premier customer service and support is provided to internal and external partners so they can enhance and optimize payment capabilities to build and grow their business for DGN merchants and cardmembers.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Ensures delivery of operational support for all clients within their area of responsibility.
  2. Project manage the implementation of new partners on the Discover Global Network
  3. Delivers pre-sales support to potential partners, including training partners and delivering workshops on tools and systems
  4. Drive initiatives and projects focused on improving and resolving technical acceptance issues.
  5. Implement new network products (EMV, Digital, E-commerce, contactless, etc.) and solutions with existing network partners.
  6. Manage technical communications with client's technical team, project team, customer services team and senior executives
  7. Proactively resolve client business & technical problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree, ideally business or technology related or Equivalent Experience
  2. Operational, implementation, technical or account management experience within payments, ideally from a scheme
  3. Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  4. Strong organization and resolution management skills
  5. Able to prioritize and manage parallel projects and issues
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  7. Client focused approach with the ability to interact across all management levels.
  8. Desire to embrace change, successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions.

Additional Preferred Qualifications - Strong candidates may have one of more of the following:

  1. Demonstrated cross functional knowledge and experience in the working of a card scheme ecosystem (merchants/Acquirer/Network/Issuers/card members)
  2. Experience in working with cross-functional/cross-departmental and virtual teams
  3. Experience in a client facing role
  4. People leadership experience
  5. Fluency in one of the following languages: German, French, Spanish, or Italian.
  6. PRINCE2, PMP or similar project management certification;
