IT Support Technician - IT Service Desk - IT Helpdesk (Permanent)

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire Country: UK Rate: 25k-35k depending on experience

A dynamic data migration consultancy based in Watford, Herts is looking for an IT Support Technician to join our team working to the IT Manager.

To be considered for this position you will be an outgoing, confident and friendly individual with a passion for IT and a desire to learn new technologies.

You will be an excellent communicator with a strong understanding of good customer service. The ideal candidate will be a natural problem solver with a strong passion and keen interest in IT.

This is an ideal role 2nd line support technician looking to gain broad experience of various technologies, including Hyper-V and ESX, supporting and managing the corporate physical and virtual infrastructure.

What are your responsibilities?

As an IT Support Technician, you will have varied responsibilities. You will be supported in achieving these goals by a senior IT support technician.

Your responsibilities will include assisting with:

  • IT Service Desk Ticket Management
  • Commissioning new IT infrastructure including Servers, laptops desktops
  • Virtual machine Management - Provisioning new VM, snapshots, cloning.
  • User account management via Active Directory
  • Asset Management (issuing new assets, managing asset log etc)
  • Assisting with security requirements eg arranging Pen Testing, monitoring Firewall rules, logs
  • Regular Patch Management
  • Backups
  • Alarm, CCTV support

Desirable Technical Skills/Experience (although training will be provided):

  • Call logging & ticketing systems
  • Windows 7, Windows 8 &/or Windows 10
  • MS Office & Outlook 2010, 2013, 365 &/or 2016
  • PC's, laptops & printers
  • Windows Server 2012, Hyper-V
  • VMWare ESXi
  • Active Directory
  • Office 365
  • Jira
  • Networking
  • Firewall Management

Any further skills & experience with Linux would be highly beneficial but not essential.
