Network Reliability Engineer (Permanent)

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU

  • Cisco CCNA Routing & Switching
  • Minimum 2 years Production Support experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent network implementation and troubleshooting skills
  • Detail orientated with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in implementing EIGRP, OSPF and BGP routable IP Networks
  • Understanding of security in relation to network, server, applications and databases
  • In-depth knowledge of VPN technologies including Site-to-Site IPSec VPN
  • Troubleshooting using in-depth packet capture analytics through packet inspection tools
  • Past and demonstrable experience of the following protocols and technologies; TCP/IP, UDP, NAT, HSRP, GLBP, OTV, Trunks, Port-Channels, vPCs, STP, DNS, HTTP, ACLs and SSL

SOME KEY POINTS OF THE ROLE

Network Reliability Engineering drives the stability and accessibility of the PayPoint network ensuring a sustainable and optimum uptime. This will include working with Legacy environments as well as pushing forward with the next generation of networking through software defined networks within the Microsoft Azure cloud.

The Network Reliability Engineer will need to ensure automation of tasks is at the forefront of speed to deployment of new project work or existing improvements to the infrastructure.

The ideal person will have a proven track record in the installation, support and maintenance of networks and be able to demonstrate leadership in managing incidents through to resolution, whether that be individually or as part of a team. They will be able to demonstrate an understanding of networking to an elevated level, specifically aligned to a company within the financial sector. Previous experience of working in the financial sector or an ability to provide examples of working in a service critical environment are advantageous.

As a Network Reliability Engineer they will be responsible for ensuring the network meets all regulatory requirements, namely PCI DSS. This will include the adherence to standards ensuring conformity within the network environment.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Ensure optimal reliability, availability and performance of the network
  • Operational support of the network carrying out analysis of incidents and problems
  • Engaging with relevant 3rd party support to assist with incident resolution
  • Resolution, Root Cause Analysis, Impact Analysis and Escalation, should be carried out in a timelymanner with detailed documented in the ticketing platform
  • Ownership of incident management; liaising with the Service Management Team to ensure swift and timely resolution
  • Ensure compliance and that you operate within all company controls and security standards
  • Enforcing the policies, standards and design principles for the computing network infrastructure and services
  • Proactively driving automation of network tasks to reduce time overheads on standard practices
  • Continual service improvement through best practise and new and innovative technologies
  • Ensure consistency and quality of the service so that all support tickets are progressed according to PayPoint's Service Management Process
  • Implement, maintain and test PayPoint DR services as and when required to
  • Update documentation, policies and procedures as well as ensuring that they are followed
  • And any other duties where applicable

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING

  • Entry knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud computing
  • Software development/programming/Scripting skills
  • Wireless administration through Cisco Meraki
  • Load Balancing administration using F5 BIG-IP
