Senior IT Technician - Cambridge - £17.50 per hour - Contract (Contract)

We are recruiting for a Senior IT Technician based in Cambridge to work for a leading Pharmaceutical company on contract.

  • Work as part of a project team to assist with gathering and assessing knowledge of the lab computing environment to enable shorter Times to Bench for the introduction of new Lab Instruments.
  • Work as part of a project team to assist with gathering knowledge of the lab computing environment to enable shorter Times to Bench for the introduction of new Lab Client PCs
  • Work as part of a project team to assist with building and promoting a Digital Lab brand
  • Work as part of a project team to assist with fixing root causes of regularly recurring incidents
  • Work as part of a project team to collect inventory information to populate a new, centralised, shared inventory repository.
  • Provide a floor walking service when in the labs, collecting inventory Install and configure new PCs as part of the Technical Refresh initiative
  • Dispose of old PCs in accordance with existing processes
  • Assist with educating customers on the support model for clients in the Lab Computing environment
  • Being an ambassador for the new Digital Lab service as it evolves.
  • Document and report on work completed to ensure compliance with Company procedures.
  • Maintain and improve customer satisfaction levels. Understand and adhere to Company and Customer policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required Customer training to adhere to compliance and regulatory requirements and to understand Customer processes.
  • Exhibit routine administrative skills and good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Act as a team player demonstrating good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates awareness of health and safety at work.

Specific Knowledge/Skills:

  • Provide first line support for R&D staff in person, via phone, via email and via ServiceNow incident and request tickets for in-scope hardware and software related issues in a timely manner.
  • Support R&D IS solutions attached to scientific instruments and assist RDI in the design, development and implementation of new scientific requirements.
  • A broad awareness of IT and the dependencies between technologies. Such as networks, Windows Server, Cloud hosting and database technologies.
  • Develop, implement and support scripts to automate common tasks such as file copies and email alerting.
  • Work with IS project teams to implement and support IS laboratory hardware and Specialist OS images (Windows 7/10) that align to business needs when required.
  • Ensure that laboratory systems are maintained and supported as determined by company policies and GxP standards where required.
  • Maintain awareness and keep up-to-date with company Standard Operating Procedures
  • Ensure that any and all changes to existing laboratory IS systems are performed in adherence to company change management policies.
