An exciting opportunity to own and direct the Network for ITV.

The network lead is responsible for building and running the ITV network. Working in partnership with the principal network architect, the role will drive a portfolio of network change projects and will be responsible for the reliability, operating cost, security and efficiency of the ITV network, comprising:

  • Data Centre Networking,
  • Local Area Networking, Wired and Wireless
  • Wide Area Networking.

The role will drive change, delivering an annual portfolio of change initiatives to continuously improve the ITV network for data and content.

The role will proactively manage vendors to ensure the services they provide are continuously optimised to meet user needs and that value for money is achieved. This includes understanding and influencing the future development of the service and driving the resolution of any network issues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with the ITV architects to develop annual roadmaps to build and enhance the ITV network.
  • Drive the delivery of a portfolio of network change projects.
  • Build pragmatic, long-standing relationships with network suppliers. Use these relationships to deliver an efficient and reliable network for data at ITV.
  • Gain a holistic understanding of the strategy for data and media content delivery at ITV.
  • Use automation, software-defined networking and telemetry to deliver a reliable, performant and cost optimised network for data and media content delivery.
  • Develop a sourcing strategy for network operations and delivery. Use the right mix of internal teams and external partners to deliver an efficient, integrated, end to end network service.
  • Lead the network delivery and operations teams and it's suppliers, generating a strong team culture that promotes collaboration, autonomy, innovation and great service delivery.
  • Develop a good understanding of the ITV and Group Technology strategy, competitive advantage, operating businesses and ways of working.
  • Grow technical knowledge in any of the domains required to deliver the network service. eg software-defined networking, SDWAN, automation, machine learning, etc.
  • Deliver clear and accurate reports on delivery and operational performance
  • Partner with the wider Group Technology and ITV Technology teams, ensuring the network continues to evolve in line with the Group Technology and More Than TV strategies.
  • Effectively manage network operating budgets and change budgets.
  • Use all available network, customer and market insights to inform network strategy and roadmaps.
  • On call support required.

  • Strong technically - comfortable with conceptual design; able to work with and influence engineers, developing ideas and removing blockers;
  • Be data-driven in the identification of opportunities and in your decisions.
  • Excellent team management and development skills;
  • Commercially aware; makes good, financially sound investment decisions;
  • Able to build sound lateral working relationships across ITV;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Experience with managing a multi vendor network environment including Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Checkpoint, Citrix.

Work Experience needed:

  • Experience in managing hybrid IT environments and methodologies
  • Experience of deploying large infrastructure change projects, including cloud migration.
  • Experience in large outsourcing contracts
  • Experience in delivering effective service management
  • Experience of large scale technology transformation programmes
  • Experience of supplier management (contracts up to £1m) and service delivery within technology governance models (ITIL experience desirable)
  • Experience of engaging with senior stakeholders, up to Director level
  • Experience of building a team and significant line management experience
  • Experience of budget management
  • Experience of liaising between technical experts and business stakeholders
