2nd Line Support Engineer (Permanent)

Location: St. Albans Country: UK Rate: £30k-£35k per annum
 

2nd Line Support Engineer - St Albans - Azure Cloud

A key client of ours based in St Albans are currently looking for a 2nd line support analyst to join their growing team. You will be expected to provide internal IT support in a wide variety of on-premise and cloud infrastructure, so a good understanding of server, network, storage and Microsoft applications is essential. We are a busy team that often eclipse over 100 internal IT requests each week.

Alongside this you will be involved in internal projects outside of your comfort zone which will aid the business to remain at the forefront of the Information Technology sector.

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • To be a knowledgeable IT point of contact to our global employees. Answering queries and offering resolutions in a timely manner.
  • Prioritise and manage IT support requests through our ITSM tool ServiceNow. These requests include software/hardware issues, PC & laptop builds, device management, access controls and permissions, software licence management and onboarding/offboarding new users
  • Take ownership of user's issues and be proactive in logging and resolving them swiftly and correctly.
  • Set-up, Configuration and Management of Windows Server infrastructure for our on-premise estate (HyperV) and cloud infrastructure (Azure).
  • Research and Investigate the evolving Microsoft Cloud products and services.
  • Assisting with larger ad-hoc projects.

Skills and experience required

  • Minimum of three years' experience in an 2nd/3rd line IT Support Engineer role.
  • Microsoft Office365 Admin centre expert.
  • Working knowledge/experience of the Microsoft Windows Server Family (Windows Server 2012/2016/2019) including the HyperV role.
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Azure.
  • An understanding of IT security technologies, principles and policies would be advantageous
  • Confident and positive attitude
  • Passionate about infrastructure and software in equal measures
  • Self-Directed, Smart, Methodical, creative and good at problem-solving
  • Team player
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
