The Security Solutions Architect will help SCC's clients design and deploy new generation security solutions. The Security SA will practice a consultative approach, helping clients understand their current security posture, risks and threat vectors. Subsequently they will work with the client and SCC technical teams to help develop mitigation strategies and solutions to address the evolving Cyber Threat landscape. They will also have an appreciation of industry and regulatory legislation against which clients have to protect their networks and information.

The Security SA will be have an appreciation of interdependent technologies such as LAN, WAN, WLAN, Data Centre Load Balancing and preferably have some experience in Routing/Switching disciplines.

The Security SA will have a detailed understanding of the following aspects of network security:

  • NGFW/IPS/IDS/Endpoint Protection
  • Hybrid Security Solutions (ie Cloud & On Premise)
  • Advanced Malware Protection/Sandboxing technologies
  • New Generation Threat mitigation techniques and technologies (ie Ransomware/DDOS)
  • VPN & AuthenticationTechnologies
  • SIEM & Incident Management techniques/Software
  • Optimisation and Analysis Software (ie Tufin/Skybox)
  • Vulnerability Management (SW/HW)

Specialisation in the Cisco and Fortinet portfolio of products and services is desirable as well as an appreciation of other security vendors (eg: Juniper/Checkpoint/Forcepoint) in order to provide SCC's clients with a balanced view of security vendor options and benefits.

This role is both a presales and delivery role. As such the SA must possess excellent client facing skills and the ability to communicate security concepts at all levels. The combined role affords the opportunity to deliver the full project life cycle from pre sales design to implementation, testing and handover and to work as part of a large professional services consultancy team.

Skills Knowledge & Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of the design and implementation of Cisco and Fortinet security products and Services.
  • Professional certification is essential in vendor product: ie Cisco CCDP/CCNP-Sec, Fortinet NSE accreditation.
  • Desirable: Other security vendor accreditation ie CCSE, JNCIP-SEC.
  • Desirable: Industry recognised certifications such as CISSP/ISSAP, IISP
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in performing roles designing, implementing, optimising and supporting security products and solutions for Enterprise customers.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry offerings and their relevance in positioning solutions to address client security needs.
  • Communication Technologies, protocols and standards (eg. Ethernet, TCP/IP suite, VLSM, VLANs, RIP1&2, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SNMP)
  • Experience in network design and IP Addressing architectures that form part of the security fabric.
  • Knowledge and experience of Cisco FWSM's, ASA, Firepower, AMP & ISE would be desirable.
  • Experience/use of virtualisation technologies
  • Familiar with the design, implementation and operation VPN solutions
  • Familiar with cabling standards and specifications (eg. UTP category 5&6, single and multi mode fibre)
  • Use of Design and Analysis toolsets to perform network security audits and optimisation.
  • Experience of implementing and fault finding remote access and security solutions
  • Some knowledge of the operation of E-commerce based solutions including knowledge of SSL and load balancing technologies
  • Familiar with the design and implementation of DNS/DHCP/WINS services
  • Good working knowledge of implementing Change and Incident solutions within ITIL V3 processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of network & application analysis toolsets (eg. wireshark/network observer/appnetta)
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly as required by projects.
  • Knowledge of leading SIEM products such as IBM-Q-Radar, LogRythm, Splunk
  • Knowledge of Security optimisation toolsets such as Tufin, Skybox
