An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically competent Automation Test Engineer to join a banking giant based in Bristol.

If you would like really to make a difference and become part of a dynamic IT team, in a small Agile tech hub, where you will be working on mobile banking apps and sites, testing cloud hosted systems and implementing Java frameworks, we would like to hear from you.

You will have experience:

Creating automation frameworks from scratch in Java

Competency working to Behavioural Driven Development (BDD) methodologies

Testing modern web SPA and micro-service architectures

Reviewing design documents, requirements and stories across scrum teams to implement automated test scenarios

Agile/SCRUM principals and activities

Robust skills producing Test Estimates, Test Plans, Test Scripts for User Stories

Appreciation of core concepts around automation and performance testing

Experience raising defects and ensuring that appropriate additional testing is performed

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence the business and motivate team members

Qualification to ISEB/ISTQB standards or higher

Of particular interest but not essential are competencies in:

Java 8 and OOP principles


Selenium WebDriver

Cucumber JVM

IntelliJ IDE

API test tool such as REST Assured and SOAP-UI

Performance test tools such as J-Meter or Silk Performer

Our client is currently undergoing a period of change and looking to increase their digital offering to their customers. They have built a digital hub in Bristol where you will be given the opportunity to join a dynamic team delivering robust digital software through continuous integration.

Contract candidates may well be considered for this role but candidates looking for permanent employment will have precedence.
