We are currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join an established engineering team based in Gloucester. The role will primarily focus on the re-analysis of existing towers to support the next generation of mobile phone antenna. However, work on other projects and products will be required. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of structural principles with a strong practical bias.

Role responsibilities for the Structural Engineers role include:

  • Design of towers, masts, mono-poles, screw piles, steel interface grillages, reinforced concrete foundations, driven piles, micro piles.
  • Design and approval documentation for structures, piled foundations & grillages for rail, highways and other utility services.
  • Liaising with the other teams in the organization, primarily the Drawing Office, Project Managers and Sales teams.
  • Liaising with clients as required, attending meetings, doing presentations, or visiting sites.
  • Development of new products as required.
  • Supervising installations of pile installations, but also rail and highways structures, towers and masts.
  • Site attendance at short notice to resolve problems.

Requirements for the Structural Engineer include:

  • Experience of Steel tower design to BS 8100.
  • Proficiency in structural steel design, with a working knowledge of EN 1993 including the design of steel members and connections.
  • Fatigue design to BS 5400-10 and EN 1993-1-9
  • Knowledge of Network Rail approval procedures.
  • Projects for the Highways Agency. Working knowledge of the approval procedures of BD2/12.
  • Pile design. Knowledge of EN 1997-1 and its Design Approaches.
  • Highways or Railways structure design
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office package. Ability of creating Visual Basic macros in Excel.
  • Structural steel manufacture or installation.
