Lead Enterprise Architect - We're working with a global technology giant to find a Lead Enterprise Architect who will own the global technology roadmap for an organisation with over 1000 software engineers.

The Lead Enterprise Architect role is new within the company and will report directly with the CTO to allow for the appropriate impact across the technology organisation. The existing architect capability is very technically-focused and they feel they need a leader to come in with deep expertise in traditional 'Enterprise Architecture' skills, who can combine that with in-depth knowledge of building cutting-edge software at scale. This company, barring a couple of Back Office vendor solutions, do not use 3rd party solutions and build all their own platforms which are used by millions of people globally every day. It is vital that you have the knowledge and passion to build cutting-edge products at scale as you will work closely with the CTO, Engineering and Product leadership to drive a world-class technology function.

You will define, govern and assure the compliance of the methods, tools and processes used by the clients to develop and operate world-class technological solutions based on their architectural principles of lean and Agile, microservices and hybrid Cloud. You will also own the "City Plan", defining their high-level functional roadmap, the life cycle of their applications and the service landscape.

What would you do as Lead Enterprise Architect?

  • Define and evolve of the "City Plan":
    • Responsible for the evolution of the City Plan, describing and documenting the high level target technology landscape of the organisation.
    • Finding appropriate balance between technical debts versus functional evolution, assuring alignment with the overall strategy.
  • Define the Software Development Toolsets and Processes
    • Set the methodologies, standards, processes and toolsets to be used by the engineering community to assure qualitative and efficient software development driven by product-based, Lean/Agile software development standards.
    • Train the organisation on the use of these tools and standards while measuring the compliance of the organisation to these standards and continuously benchmarking to identify and apply industry best practice.
    • Identify organisational requirements for the resources, structures and cultural changes necessary to allow for an effective (engineering) organisation.
  • Govern the API evolution:
    • Assure consistency in the overall API Landscape by defining the cross-functional standards to be respected & measures its compliance
  • Build architecture capability by growing the Enterprise Architecture function:
  • There is scope to grow the 3 person team to 5-6 if you think it necessary.
  • Create and operate an effective community to engage and educate Technology in enterprise and solution architecture.
