Datacentre Technician/Engineer - Slough - £32,000 per annum

Based on customer site in Slough, The role of Data Centre Technician is to provide assistance to the Data Centre Supervisor, in building and maintaining infrastructure to support our customers. They will be responsible for the resolution of hardware issues, deployment of new systems, reinstallation of operating systems as required, as well as ad-hoc support requests, including liaising with co-location customers. The Datacentre Technician/engineer will have to be available to work split shifts.

As the Datacentre Technician/Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Providing hardware break fix support on Servers across a multi-vendor environment, Hardware consists of HP ISS, Dell Servers, IBM Blades.
  • Provide Data Centre cabling activities installation, termination and testing of all data Centre interlink cabling ( ie CAT-5e, CAT-6 6A, fibre optic)
  • Provide Data Centre Facilities management activities such as but not limited to IMAC work, escorting external resources, requesting access etc.

Essential Skills/Qualifications for the Datacentre Technician/engineer:

  • Strong Customer relationship building skills. Ability to manage complex Customer problems
  • Must have very strong knowledge of HP ProLiant & Blade Servers.
  • HP server accreditation preferred.

Desirable skills/Qualifications

  • ITIL Foundation
  • HPE tools/system knowledge ie parts ordering and HPE call management via FSM/SF
  • Good knowledge of Service Now (SNOW)
