Data Center Operations Tech (Contract/Full Time)

Location: Atlanta, Georgia Country: United States of America
 

Our client is seeking a Data Center Relocation Engineer/Instillation Engineer to consolidate and build out the data center for operations. Work includes rack and stack, laying cables. Build the systems physical environment working within a team to build a consolidated data center supporting a complex IT network environment involving support to dispersed sites across the state of GA. This role will serve as an administrator specializing in all data center duties including but not limited to physical environment, server, storage, network and hypervisor.

Key Duties/Tasks

  • Install, configure and manage virtualization environments.
  • Install, configure, and manage both physical and virtual storage solutions
  • Install, configure and manage Datacenter Infrastructure
    • Install, configure and manage physical and virtual Routers, Switches, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDUs), Servers, etc.
    • Identify Servers to be virtualized, create test environments, validate configurations, convert Servers, and maintain virtual infrastructure.
    • Analyze systems requirements in response to requirements, risks, and costs by working directly with management and system administrators.
    • Leverage automation technologies to manage infrastructure deployment and maintenance.
    • Continually monitors and fine-tunes performance of the Information Systems.
    • Apply Information Technology (IT) expertise, including feasibility studies, technical evaluation, justification, acquisition/procurement, installation, implementation, management, and administration of IT systems.
    • Create, update and follow SOPs and other documentation (ex. Change and configuration management.)
    • Translate complex technical requirements into actionable and sustainable tasks.
    • Compile reports ranging from a wide variety of topic areas related to existing and potential IT projects, platforms and Systems.
    • Attend meetings directly related to duties to gain insight and/or provide subject matter expert (SME) guidance.

REQUIRED:

  • Five (5) years of experience in Information Technology
  • Five (5) years of physical datacenter experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioning
  • Two (2) years of experience VMware/Hyper-V Virtualization administration experience
  • Two (2) years of experience with automation (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, etc.)
  • Strong networking experience with a focus on Cisco hardware
  • Strong Windows experience and some Linux administration
  • Understanding of SAN and SAN connectivity
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills
