We're looking for someone who enjoys discovering new ways to approach technology and is eager to learn. The ideal candidate for this role will have a solid Systems Administrator background but also possesses some entry- to mid-level Scripting skills and is excited to keep moving their skill set in that direction.

The IT Operations team provides automation, monitoring, and system support for the organization. We work alongside the IT Infrastructure and Security teams to design solutions that improve stability and visibility throughout the environment. We are constantly presented with new challenges and exploring ever-changing technology. We are also responsible for custom scripts and automation, patching, Windows and Linux systems and certificate management.

  • Develop custom monitoring solutions for Servers, network equipment, applications and cloud services.
  • Provide script and automation solutions for other challenges as part of the IT Operations team.
  • Provide basic support for IT systems, including physical and virtual Servers.

  • Provide 24/7 support coverage for all in-scope Servers during rotating primary/secondary on-call schedules.
  • Solve complex system problems quickly and with expertise, leveraging the vendor as the next higher level of support.
  • Propose and implement systems or procedure enhancements that will improve performance and reliability.
  • Follow change control policies and procedures and supports the practice of continuous improvement.
  • Able to work in an interrupt-based work environment with changing deadlines, conflicting priorities, and users of all levels of technical skill.
  • Create and maintain documentation for Servers and other technology solutions within the environment in accordance with Governance and Compliance policies.

Here are some real examples of the work we've done lately that might help you to get a better idea of what this job entails:

  • Turn everyday tasks into repeatable and streamlined results, such as scripted employee setup, automated systems patching, and regular scans of our web footprint.
  • Develop tools that query existing products - from storage arrays to our own monitoring software - in order to provide an eye in the sky on our environment.
  • Develop a scanner that checks all parts of our environment for SSL certificates and keeps us prepared for their expiration dates.

This is a snapshot of our experience building out an automation/monitoring process with a capable, supportive team for the long haul. Your experience and background will join ours! We have worlds to learn and we're eager to do it together. You can expect to teach us, coach us, and expect the same in return.

We're looking for an experienced candidate who's ready for a similar breadth and depth of work but is also looking to learn new things. The ideal candidate will have a mix of experience with IT infrastructure (traditional server support in physical/virtual environments) as well as skills in Scripting (PowerShell) and application support.
