Fiscal Technician #00743 (Full Time)

Location: Norfolk, VA Country: United States of America
 

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Old Dominion University is seeking a Full time employee to serve as Fiscal Technician beginning in January 2020. This position will ensure that the assigned departmental financial transactions are processed, paid, and billed to the appropriate budgets monthly; that the assigned financial transactions are recorded in the assigned department's internal financial records, that the internal records are reconciled monthly with the University's financial records, and that any errors noted in the reconciliation are corrected in a timely manner.

Required qualifications include:

  • Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent accounting and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of a PC.
  • Demonstrated ability to record and manipulate data and produce reports using word processing and spreadsheet software, especially the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain an extremely high accuracy rate on completion of tasks even during high volume periods with short deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and analysis for management.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work with staff and customers in a professional, effective and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete complex tasks with very limited directions and supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial facts, figures and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain electronic and paper filing systems.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Prefer Associate's Degree in Accounting and several years of experience processing financial documents with a budgetary/governmental accounting firm and/or maintaining budgetary records in this type of environment.
  • Must have completed college level basic/introductory accounting courses or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
