Kinsale is an Excess & Surplus lines insurer specializing in hard-to-place, small to medium sized commercial accounts. Kinsale is eligible in all states and writes a variety of Property, Casualty and Specialty lines through fifteen underwriting divisions. Given the experience of our staff and our control over the underwriting and claims processes, Kinsale offers unmatched underwriting flexibility to brokers placing difficult ES accounts. Kinsale will consider offering terms on a wide range of risks including accounts with new or high hazard operations and businesses that have a poor loss history or that are located in high risk venues.

SUMMARY:

Kinsale Insurance is looking for individuals to join their IT team who are passionate about building innovative solutions that enhance business value with quality and efficiency. The DevOps Engineer will work with the IT Infrastructure and Application Development teams in order to build new and migrate existing web applications and databases into the public cloud. This individual will be a member of the IT Infrastructure Operations team and will collaborate with the development teams and Cloud Architect in order to recommend and implement solutions, optimize and secure the environment, and deliver on committed objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze existing systems against organizational strategies to make well-defined recommendations and execution plans for efficiency, performance, elasticity, and recoverability
  • Implement AWS-based solutions, including high-availability architecture, networking, security, data management, operations, and DevOps
  • Integrate and migrate on-premise technologies and shared services with AWS
  • Optimize cloud workloads for cost, scalability, high availability, governance, and compliance
  • Automate the deployment of applications/workloads in AWS or on-premise environments, using tools such as Jenkins and Bamboo
  • Identify and implement additional tooling to support DevOps methodologies
  • Collaborate and provide technical leadership with team members
  • Coach other team members on best practices and technologies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology or related field
  • Three years of experience with AWS design, implementation and migration required
  • Hands-on experience utilizing configuration management solutions such as Ansible, CloudFormation, and Terraform
  • Demonstrated experience with ECS and containers
  • Hands-on experience with automating workflows in AWS utilizing tools such as CloudFormation and Lamda
  • Three to five years experience with Linux
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) preferred
  • AWS certification at the associate or higher level in the architecture or operations path is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Collaboration, customer focus, and innovation skills
  • Familiarity with Scripting and markup languages such as Python, YAML, and JSON
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current on the latest trends and technologies and to identify opportunities for their use
