Due to the growth of the business, our Marietta GA client seeks a top notch Manager of DER Strategy for a Full time position. This is a new position, reporting to a VP. The role is responsible for developing and executing a DER strategy and procurement efforts to deploy DER in the company's utility service territory. Will drive innovation by leveraging cutting-edge DER technologies that can provide energy efficiency opportunities and technologies to customers, lower wholesale power costs to maintain low rates, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This position is responsible for the project management of DER strategy that include leading cross-functional teams, business case analysis, and maintaining project scope, budget and schedule. This position will lead the development and support of RFP and vendor management activities for DER projects in creating clean energy solutions, including utility-scale renewable and battery storage, battery energy storage solutions, vehicle-to-grid bidirectional charging, smart neighborhood, residential and commercial rooftop solar, microgrids, etc. Will be involved in negotiating and executing long-term renewable power purchase agreements and managing existing renewable contracts.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree
  • 6-10+ years of experience within an electric distribution utility
  • Solid understanding of the DER landscape technologies with demonstrated experience working on solar and battery storage projects including managing RFP and vendor selection process, evaluating site locations, estimating system output, and familiarity with interconnection policies.
  • Experience working with vendors and managing projects.
  • Previous supervisory level experience.
  • Experience in developing RFPs and managing procurement and contracting.
  • Experience in performing energy and/or infrastructure financial modelling and the solid understanding of financial concepts.

Abilities

  • Ability to perform financial evaluations of the projects, develop financial models, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency, demand response, energy storage, microgrids, V2G technologies, virtual power plant, and aggregators.
  • Ability to understand the electric utility market landscape and identify opportunities for investments and/or acquisitions.
  • Ability to understand and negotiate PPA's, leases, EPC contracts and other project financing legal arrangements.
  • Ability to supervise, lead, and manage both employees and contractors.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and ability to self-direct.
  • Ability to effectively lead change and manage projects/resources/people in a dynamic business environment.
  • Excellent skills at summarizing and presenting information for executive decision making.
  • Collaborate with Power Supply, Marketing, Electric Operations and other departments on DER strategy and roll-out.
  • Communicate with management regarding the formation & execution of DER strategy.
  • Certificate in Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.
  • Experience with electric rate design and strategy preferred.
