SUMMARY

We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our Infrastructure Team as an Infrastructure Operations Engineer. The position we're seeking a great fit for will leverage general knowledge of enterprise network information systems, Windows/Linux Servers, Public/Private Cloud, VMware and Hyperconverged infrastructure platforms to deliver state of the art capabilities in support of a secure, stable, and high-performance environment. The candidate will collaboratively provide day-to-day operational support of the data center and remote locations using ITIL best practices, including hardware, software, and advanced network operations, while working closely with IT leadership to maximize system availability, performance, and regulatory compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in software strategic planning and consulting on platform selection, version implementation, software product recommendation, and usage of enhanced functionality.
  • Tracks installations, modifications, and support efforts to ensure goals are being met.
  • Implements, integrates and provides support for Middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment, dealing with development projects that have a broad impact across the organization.
  • Provides consulting expertise in identifying and solving highly-critical Middleware issues and serves as a resource on Middleware issues related to policies and standards that impact Middleware specialist and application support staff.
  • Communicates with internal and external system users to address concerns and make sure that technical issues are dealt with appropriately.
  • Manages ticket queues and handles highly complex escalated issues.
  • Analyzes repeat incident patterns to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity enhancements.
  • Manages relationships with vendors and works with them to ensure efficient incident resolution.
  • Provides escalated level support to other IT staff members
  • Manages network monitoring devices including SolarWinds Orion, Lancope Stealthwatch, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Ubiquiti AirControl, and intrusion prevention devices
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves LAN/WAN performance problems and bottlenecks, to include optimization of network traffic with prioritization (QoS/CoS).
  • Recommends procedures, policies, and standards to insure LAN/WAN is secure and recovery procedures are maximized.
  • Helps create and maintain documentation of network design, procedural manuals, and drawings
  • Coordinates and facilitates connectivity with other Oldcastle groups

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE

  • Support Hardware: Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, Nexus switches, Meraki, wireless controllers, access points, Window Server OS, VMware and infrastructure environments
  • Support and Configuration of Applications: SolarWinds, Cisco Prime Infrastructure (NCS/WCS), Cisco AnyConnect, VMware vSphere, Windows Server 2012/2016
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, Information Technology degree preferred
  • 3+ years' experience within IT engineering or administration disciplines
  • 2+ years' experience with Cisco Routers and Switches
  • 2+ years' experience working with enterprise infrastructure
  • 2+ years' experience working with VMware and Hyperconverged environments
  • 1+ years' experience working in an ITIL-based Support model
  • Demonstrated understanding of LAN/WAN routing and switching, and ability to deploy, manage, and maintain according to best practices
  • Experience managing high-availability network environments
  • Experience with large IT environments preferred
  • Experience working on large-scale IT related Projects
  • Experience with BGP, EIGRP, prefix-lists, distribute lists
  • Experience with VRFs
  • Experience with enterprise VOIP communication systems desired, including Cisco CUBE and SIP
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Experience with Cisco ISE a plus
  • ITIL Certification a plus
