SENIOR SOC SECURITY ANALYST

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

An SAP Global Security Operations Incident Response Incident Handler is a crucial front-line defender of SAP's digital enterprise. Our Incident Handlers are responsible for triaging security alerts detected by Enterprise Detection and SIEM, analyzing all available data to determine if a cyber-attack is occurring, scoping the extent of a suspected attack, coordinating efforts to contain attacks, performing forensic investigations to determine the details around an attack, and providing guidance on remediation actions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs IR Tier III duties as a part of a 24/7 c y ber incident response team
  • Performs attack scope and root cause anal y ses
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and training to Global Security Operations personnel and to other SAP stakeholders.
  • Develops attack r e mediation strategies
  • Ensures communication and escalation of security activities to leadership, and assists in the development of incident handling processes, standard operating procedures, playbooks and runbooks
  • Performs additional anal y sis of escalations fr o m Incident Analysts and conducts case review
  • Identifies and develops w orkflo w automation to lower response time and eliminate length y response times
  • Develops of incident handling processes, standard operating procedures, playbooks and runbooks
  • Interfaces with Enterprise Detection and SIEM teams to make improvements to detection and alerting mechanisms
  • Provides onboarding training and coaching to for Event and Incident Analysts
  • Conducts forensic investigations to determine incident details and provide supporting evidence
  • Develops templates for third party communications for legal review
  • Acts as a technical liaison for third party incident responders

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Engineering or related work experience
  • Security certification (eg Security+, GCIA, GCIH, CISSP)
  • Comprehensive knowledge APT actors; their tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Expert knowledge of TTP methods and frameworks
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP communications & knowledge of how common protocols and applications work at the network level, including DNS, HTTP, and SMB
  • Expert knowledge of one or more
    • Windows/AD file system, registry functions and memory artifacts
    • Unix/Linux file systems and memory artifacts
    • Mac file systems and memory artifacts
    • Database, web application, cloud, or mobile device cyber incident response principals and techniques
    • Cybersecurity automation
    • Web Servers and web applications.
    • SIEM (Splunk)
    • Security tools: IPS, Web proxy, Email proxy, pDNS, Deception, EDR etc....
  • Experience with one or more Scripting languages (Powershell, Python, Bash, etc.)
  • Experience with integration of threat hunting and cyber threat intelligence into the incident response process
  • Expertise managing cases with enterprise SIEM or Incident Management systems
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical expertise, close attention to detail, excellent critical thinking, logic, and solution orientation and to learn and adapt quickly
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to learn and operate in a dynamic environment
  • Proven experience leading multi-functional teams
  • Proactive, self-managed, and able to interface well with sponsor personnel and inter-disciplinary teams across an organization
  • Experience with information security compliance audit frameworks and requirements eg PCI, FISMA, FedRAMP, SOC, SOX, PCI, GDPR and Data Privacy

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 7+ years of experience leading cyber-attack investigations
  • 7+ years of experience working in a 24/7 operational environment (Cyber Intelligence Fusion Center, SOC, NOC, Operations Center)
