The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for new acquisition targets by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential new hospitals. They must then plan persuasive approaches and pitches that will convince potential hospitals to join the partnership.


Help grow the partnership by leading the acquisition of new veterinary practices.

Research partnership target markets to identify hospitals for acquisition.

Develop relationships with potential new veterinary acquisitions through meetings, meals and other events.

Introduce new potential acquisitions to the transaction team and support the deal process from Letter of Intent to Closing.

Develop and lead marketing events to tell the company story to potential new acquisitions.

Track the development process in Salesforce.

Report to executives on progress and roadblocks.

  • Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Plan approaches and pitches.
  • Work with team to develop proposals that speak to the potential new acquisitions needs, concerns, and objectives.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company's unique selling propositions and differentiators.


The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in business development or related jobs within the animal health industry.

Required experience includes:

3+ years of experience in sales, business development or related jobs in the animal health sector.

Proven relationships with veterinary practice owners.

Knowledge of research tools and methods used to evaluate potential acquisition targets.

Undergraduate degree is required.


Operates with high integrity, builds trust, quickly wins and sustains credibility in relationships with others; personally approachable.

Outgoing personality.

Well-developed problem solving skills, with an emphasis on innovative and creative solutions that result in a more effective business development function.

A self-starter who needs little direction; is highly self-motivated, accountable and a team player.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skill (both oral and written) including the ability to communicate with individuals having both sophisticated and unsophisticated financial acumen.

Strong track record of implementing and executing tactics to achieve key strategic initiatives.

Results oriented and achievement motivated. Ability to meet deadlines and work well with others in a fast paced environment.

Ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously. Organized and detail oriented.
